I recall the US threw a fit over the plans of a mosque being built on the grounds of the Twin Towers, which is clearly discriminatory over the fact that the only similarity between the terrorists and the mosque is religious belief (It's not a fucking "terrorist centre", jesus). Those just come to mind off the top of my head.

No, my parents were really chill when I was a kid.
They made it clear that they'd rather help me with a problem than have me hide it from them. If I needed a ride home from a party at an ungodly hour, there's no shame in calling and waking them up. If I was going out, just let them know when I'll be back.

I don't know how well I actually trust the religious preference of government officials. I'd have no problems lying about being christian to boost election chances significantly, and I'm sure there's plenty of congressmen who did just that.
