Yes.
My best bud from high school was a Marine who did two tours in Afghanistan. He killed more than one person there. He has never elaborated more than that..
In addition, my neighbor once blew through a stop sign and killed two elderly people crossing the street. She did several years in jail.
Does suicide count? I know several people who have committed suicide, also.

I don't know why we don't just make investments in infrastructure tax-deductible.
I could get behind that.

I was talking with my mom [a retired teacher] about fixing schools. She proposed the idea that local businesses, both big and small, could sponsor a school or school district, depending on how much they wanted to spend.
Could this work? Is there a way to keep education objective even if it's being sponsored by an outside company?
When your schools thrive, your residents thrive, and your businesses thrive.

which is likely the fault of their previous (lack of) education.
Which is precisely what we are arguing in response to. I think we all want to improve primary and secondary education, it's just that you don't seem to place much importance on maintaining the ratio of people who go into higher education.
And I don't disagree that primary and secondary education also need work, but I disagree that providing access to community college isn't beneficial. Fixing primary and secondary education will be great...for those who are still in it, or yet to go through it. But there's the problem of the people who have already been through it, which is what needs the more immediate attention.

Really, I don't give a fuck. Come here legally and you're fine. Come here illegally and you deserve nothing but a boot back to where you came from
That's probably the most narrow, short-sighted thing you've ever said.
And I won't miss a single minute of sleep over it
Thanks for illustrating why immigrants don't vote republican.
Well illegals can't vote in the first place, so your point is?
I didn't say illegal immigrants.
I did
So your point is completely irrelevant. . .
Nope. This is a discussion about illegals. Bringing up voting is irrelevant because they can't vote
It is relevant because legal immigrants are sympathetic to the troubles of illegal immigrants. When Republicans keep spouting the same rhetoric about illegals, it rings in the ears of legal immigrants. When Republicans continue to to do, it pushes legal immigrants away from voting for them. Why would you vote for someone who is adamantly against people similar to you?

Point is, if people don't intelligently choose a degree, they shouldn't be surprised when they're jobless in the future. And the government shouldn't be helping out people who can't bother to do that.
This is about people who can't afford to go to school in the first place.
I'm sure there are already ways of acquiring financial assistance.
of course. But the people who qualify for free community college probably don't know how to go about getting such assistance.
If they can't even apply for financial aid correctly, why are we wasting tax paper money on college courses that they will fail....
which is likely the fault of their previous (lack of) education. Poor schools don't exactly provide the best guidance. Does that mean we shouldn't try to help them? It's beneficial to break the cycle of poverty and poor education, for both them and us. Obviously this isn't the only step we need to take.

Better than Obama. Hopefully the midterm shows that we will be smart enough to not elect another Democrat
We cannot elect a Republican in 2016. It wont happen.
You cant win the White House if your platform is anti-women, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-poor, and anti-anything not christian. Not to mention how Republicans are notorious for threatening to shut down the government if they don't get what they want.
It wont happen. Republicans are toxic. Y'all need some serious help with your image and PR.
Personally I'm tired of the old back and forth rhetoric between both major parties. It's cancerous, they land each other in a stand still and keep the finger pointing to the other side, but once someone calls them out they scramble for every excuse how it wasn't their fault blah blah blah republicans this democrats that fucking blah blah blah
Fuck the parties, and fuck you for being another democrat drone, no different than a republican drone.
but the Republicans we can choose from are all, or many, of those things I listed.

Plenty of people I know have an English or history degree and work in accounting or payroll or something.
And that doesn't strike you as part of the whole problem?
Well, considering the average person changes careers a few times in their life, it's silly to expect someone to do exactly what they have a degree in for their whole life. People change and maybe they tire of the field they're in. Not everyone works in such a specialized field that they need a degree in exactly that.

And if people go to school and get a useless degree, then they're going to be back where they started, minus the two years they could've spent moving up in a company or acquiring experience.
any degree is better than no degree, though. And not everyone is required to get a degree directly related to their field of work. Plenty of people I know have an English or history degree and work in accounting or payroll or something.

I went to a new local brewery tonight called Barley Forge. Really neat place with lots of good brews. I had their Black Dahlia belgian dark ale and their Grandpa Tractor dortmunder tonight. Good stuff. http://barleyforge.com/beers/And I think this might be my favorite song. Love screaming it as loud as I can.

Funny how republicans bitch about poor people living off the government, while some of the reddest states have the most people receiving public assistance.
Hmm...

there's something similar called montessori education, which emphasizes the individual's development and offers limited independence and flexibility of curriculum
I've never seen montesorri work outside of like, preschool.

Sounds like some communal, alternative hippie shit.
No idea how you would quantify a child's education with that stuff. Sounds more like summer camp than school.

The Federal Government DOES NOT have the resources to arrest, put on trial, and deport (at a minimum) the 11 million estimated illegal immigrants in our country.
That's why you take away all the incentives to come across illegally in the first place.
So you'd have to make things worse here than where they're coming from...

Republicans are toxic LOL
Yet democrats still can't figure out how to get their heads out of their asses when dealing with finances.
I'm talking about for a president. A senator or representative can get elected with those things - a president can't.

Too bad that the results will be exactly the same no matter who gets elected. precisely
if we went by popular vote, instead of having this electoral college horseshit, maybe i would bother voting
because the fact is, i'd vote for a third party every single time which will be a waste it will amount to nothing
because of the system we have
i take the "you have no right to complain" shit a little offensively because of that i'm just a guy who recognizes that it won't make a difference, and thus, won't waste his time
maybe if they gave out free cookies at the polls
The electoral college nearly always reflects the popular vote.
And when it doesn't how much does my vote matter?
Your vote always matters. The reason 2000 happened is because of how tight the turnout was. Had more people voted, I doubt we would have run into the same problem.
