I wrote a paper about this back in high school. It would be as simple as naming the football field of buildings like colleges do, or putting sponsors on sports uniforms like they do in Rec soccer. I think the up sides greatly outweigh any downsides. I come from the poorest school district in my state and we could use any penny we could get.

Though I'm not sure why you'd need logos on school uniforms. I understand it for sports games and race teams and such, but the students/staff are only there among themselves, they aren't out promoting anything.

I would think that a company logo under the school sign would do fine.

On another note, since you quoted facebook, this reminds me of a facebook post by a feminist friend I had who blamed the Elliot Roger killings on a patriarchal, misogynistic society. That was a fun debate, one in which she ended up deleting the post and removing me after I proved her idiocy to the world.

Something I can see becoming a problem is states/districts cutting their own funding to sponsored schools, which happens in a lot of states with the lottery.

If a school district uses $10m/yr, and sponsorship brings in $5m, the state shouldn't cut $5m from their budget so it's still $10m - the district should instead be getting $15m total.

That's what happens in a lot of states where the lottery money goes to schools. States just supplement taxes for lottery funds, instead of more money going to schools.
