Could've just marketised the healthcare system. That probably would've driven down costs, too.
But..but...something something socialism

Why do so many people feel there needs to be legitimacy behind the arguer?
For the same reason I don't bother with sites like Obama-is-a-kenya.net

Serious / Duke says no to muslim prayer call
« on: January 15, 2015, 05:57:18 PM »
http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/15/us/duke-call-to-prayer/index.html

Duke University has reversed its decision to allow a Muslim call to prayer to sound from a campus chapel bell tower, school officials announced Thursday.

Plans changed because the Durham, North Carolina, school's effort to "unify was not having the intended effect," Michael Schoenfeld, vice president for public affairs and government relations, said in a statement.

"Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students," Schoenfeld said.

The Duke Muslim Students Association had planned to chant the call, or adhan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower. The adhan signals the beginning of the weekly prayer service. Jummah prayers have taken place in the basement of Duke Chapel for many years, the statement said.

While it's unclear what specifically led to the university's decision, there were no shortage of opinions on both sides after Thursday's reversal.

This will certainly end well.

Do you currently have an Android phone?

Use Helium backup to back everything to your Google Drive or your PC, then wipe your phone. Then on your new phone restore your backed up data.

Dumb.

Why would you need speakers if you have headphones on?
It's supposed to be a social feature.
Regardless of the sound coming out of them, there's nothing worse than people who play their music in public. Ever been on the subway/bus/train with someone who is "sharing" their music with the rest of the passengers?

Literally Hitler.

Does Apple not have a third-party store like F-Droid for Android apps?

The number of Americans struggling to pay medical bills fell last year for the first time in nearly a decade -- the latest sign that Obamacare is making health care more affordable.

Sixty-four million people, or approximately 35 percent of the U.S. population, said they had trouble paying bills or were stuck paying off medical debt in the past year, according to a new survey by the Commonwealth Fund released on Thursday. That was down from 75 million people, or 41 percent of the population, in 2012. This marks the first time that figure has fallen since 2005, when Commonwealth started keeping track.

Well that's some progress.

Is it ethical to push someone into a crevice and swiftly pull them back and say, "Saved your life"?
...huh? I don't understand this analogy.

Pets aren't there for our entertainment. They're part of the family.
Well, says you. Not everyone thinks of their pets that way. They're evil, but they're there.
Well, obviously. But that doesn't mean owning a pet is unethical - it's just some people are shitty people.

The Flood / Re: People that buy pure breed dogs
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:41:58 AM »
I've been questioning the ethics of owning pets at all lately.
Really? Why?
Because I certainly wouldn't want to be "owned" by anyone for their entertainment.

Thing is, most pets seem to be okay with it... but does that necessarily make it okay?...
Have you ever had a pet? I mean like a dog or cat - not a fish or some shit.

Pets aren't there for our entertainment. They're part of the family.

This is far from what the final product would look like, I would assume.
