=Reminder that the people that vote are old, racist, white people. No way they'll vote for Community Sanders or Criminal Clinton. Trump has this election locked up.
Well by that logic, how did Obama win?

If the democratic party actually gets excitement, they'll win, but it seems from the turnout polls, and history in general, that a Republican will win. Unless it's Cruz.
Because black people, who don't normally vote, voted for Obama. If Obama was white he would have lost.
I'm not so sure about that. The entire country was fed up with Bush and the republicans in the white house.
And here we are, nearly 8 years later, fighting the stupid wars that we hated back then, soo...fat lot of good that did us.
Well, war*

We completely abandoned Iraq. Afghanistan is almost entirely done, so we basically lost two wars in the same decade.
Good job, America.

I love when people bring up 9/11 and some kid chimes in with "well I was in Kindergarten, but I remember...."

Oh shut the fuck up. You don't remember shit. Let the grown ups talk.

Reminder that Republican Party is actually very small in our country and his appeal on the general election won't be nearly as good. He may be favorable in that small group, but not the entire country where he's still very much disliked.

He has a 51% un-favoriteable rating, the highest any front runner has had, ever. Also remember that Rubio and Cruz are too busy circle jerking over fighting each other and not Trump, along with not doing the obvious things to actually hurt Trump, and you have this.

Odds are it will be Hillary v Trump, with Hillary winning. Though maybe not. Hillary does an amazing job at deflating the Democrat Party because she flips on issues more than a pancake being cooked by Mitt Romney.

Given how Congress has been over the last decade, the ideological split worsening, and various other things...

does this at all surprise you?
I was foolishly thinking they wouldn't stoop this low.

Obama called the hit on him. He's not going to choose because it would increase suspicion
No, Trump had him killed.

Quote
Step 1: Begin crazy presidential campaign that demand the attention of the media, creating an artificial movement of support
Step 2: Kill Supreme Court Justice Scalia and make it look like a heart attack, knowing that Congressional Republicans won't confirm any appointment Obama makes.
Step 3: Win 2016 election
Step 4: Reboot The Apprentice to determine the next Supreme Court Justice.

But he deleted all of the texts off of his phone
This is fishy to me...

I said the same thing. Apparently it's because my parents took away his phone and he obviously didn't want them to know what was happening (this was before the school alerted them of it).
Why he would destroy the only evidence that proves he's not a terrible person is beyond me.

Faith in the American people: zero.

Just fucking elect the guy.

Good luck.

Scalia was well-known as a strict constitutionalist. It's clearly outlined in the Constitution, in Article II, Section 2, that the President "shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court..."

Not that "he may appoint" or "he can choose to appoint." No. "He shall."

To deny him even the opportunity shits on the Constitution and Scalia's legacy.

What fucking idiots they are. And plenty of the right applaud this position.

Fucking lol.

Gaming / Re: A Steam curator for games with LGBT characters or themes
« on: February 23, 2016, 05:33:35 PM »
I kind of look at it from a narrative standpoint.
If a character relationship could be replaced with a heterosexual version and it has no effect on the story, there's no significance in it being a homosexual relationship, it's just there because it is. That's not meaningful or exciting.

Do I think that all universes need to have homophobic undertones? No, but if you want to make it anything more than being as generic and boring as any heterosexual relationship would be in its place, then it has to add some dynamic to the way characters interact with each other and the story.
I think the opposite. If a hetero relationship can be replaced with a homosexual relationship, that's great and goes to show just how similar they really are. When it comes down to it, homo couples are no different than hetero couples.
If they're so similar, why does it matter that they are there? What interesting perspective do they bring if they're functionally identical in a story? Does it come down to wanting to be able to get off voyeuristically?
Sometimes it's just nice to change things up a bit. Not everything needs to be read into and secretly means something else. If you're LGBT, it's nice to play games with LGBT themes and characters sometimes, because more often than not, the characters and themes in movies, tv shows, games, and books, are not LGBT.

Does that mean the story will be drastically different? No.

Also people who keep saying they can't wait to see Libbie tears. You do know Trump is the most left person there, right? This is a guy who said at a debate that Planned Parenthood does good things. Anyone else who says that has political suicide written on their back. He also has no real issues with gay marriage or LGBT rights in the slightest.

And thats exactly what we need in the white house.

A person who is socially left and economically right.
You realize the social left is SJWs, right?
SJWs are *part of* the social left.

It's not about politics, and neither is it about only buying these games exclusively. It's about providing a simple way to find these games to a demographic that doesn't get much representation in media.
while it makes sense for life simulators like Sims and shit

dont really see why someone needs to relate to their character on every level of personality to experience the game.
it doesn't even need to be about mimicking their own lives. Maybe they enjoy stories that deal with LGBT issues.

This is something you have to opt-in to. So if you're not interested, it basically doesn't exist for you.
I'm not saying it's a problem I'm just saying it's obsessive to feel the desire to have something like your sexuality permeate all the media you consume. Just doesn't seem like something that should be big enough a deal that it that makes you more intrigued with a game.

it's a game stop obsessing about sex and gender reeeeeeee
But I enjoy games that deal with LGBT issues/characters and I'm a straight dude. It's refreshing since most other games don't.

It doesn't mean it's the only thing I play. Having a curator makes it easier to find those games if i want them.

Because it's easier to make it taxpayer subsidized than it is to make universities reel in their absurd costs.

We already have taxpayer subsidized K-12 education. I don't see why people aren't bothered by that, too.

You have to remember it's Vince Gilligan, and it's related to Breaking Bad. BB was a very slow burn in the beginning too - a lot of people forget that.

But yes, it's great.

I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to the full game. The only thing I don't love is how short the missions are. Maybe it's because I'm used to games that have longer, more difficult stories. I've been playing a lot of things like Witcher 3 and Shadow of Mordor recently.

but what good are they if our own kids aren't prepared for them?
Exactly my point.

What's the fucking point in having free college is those colleges have to try and educate people spat out by a failing primary and secondary public school system? All of this noise about reforming higher education--which is not just coming from Bernie--is largely a case of politicians unknowingly kicking a problem down the road.
Major K-12 reform is needed and absolutely needs addressing soon. Bernie hasn't done much in the respect. I think he mentioned something about head-start programs but...that's just a drop in the bucket of what we need.

Maybe if we made better education available to them they wouldn't be fucking dumb
Now you're talking about primary and secondary education.
...which also suck. The US has some of the greatest universities in the world, but what good are they if our own kids aren't prepared for them?

so your solution is to keep them idiots.

And sap them of all their money, too, for good measure. Brilliant.
I'm pretty sure you know that's a mis-characterisation of what I actually think.

You also avoided my point, which is that youth support for Bernie is meaningless because young people are fucking dumb. That doesn't entail avoiding issues specific to young people, merely that listening to them is not usually a good way of forming policy.
Maybe if we made better education available to them they wouldn't be fucking dumb, but that costs money.

Also, way to not even address Clinton's college plan. I spent, like, 1 whole minute finding that for you.
Because reading.

Is it bad? No. Would it help? Yes. But it seems to treat more symptoms than it does the disease, focusing more on things like interest rates and refinancing options than it does the fact that tertiary education is fucking absurdly expensive.

In-state college assistance? That's great in some respects, but if you're stuck in a shit state that doesn't have very good schools...well...good luck. The difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition is obscene.

So like we addressed in the last thread, you want Sanders to essentially dismantle and rebuild three essential government systems - colleges, healthcare, and elections. You also want him to rebuild our infrastructure, rethink how we engage in foreign affairs, and change criminal justice laws at a federal level.

You want all of this done, or at least making decent progress, within four years, through (at best) a split Congress, and when the global economy is still recovering. Oh, and for fun - lets add in the fact that Sanders likely will have to get a justice appointed to the Supreme Court amidst all of this.

And nothing less than this is satisfactory?
Yes, I do want all those things.

In four years.

And we are still saying that Bernie Sanders supporters have a good understanding of government and how it works?
...and Hillary only kinda addresses one of those issues - college. She says she has a plan for campaign finance reform...at the same time as taking in the most money from the biggest donors. She has no plan for universal healthcare.

Yes, she voted for the Iraq war, and yes she has said it was a mistake, but it still put us trillions of dollars in the hole that we didn't have.

It's ok to spend trillions on wars, but not on our own people? That's some ass-backward shit. It's shit like that which pads the wallets of all those defense companies (Hillary's friends) and fucks the rest of us.

Yes, I do want all those things.

Had we taking baby-steps to address these issues over the last...say...half-century, then it wouldn't be so radical a suggestion. But we didn't. It's like not going to the dentist for 20 years then being surprised that you have cavities in every tooth.

And I'd be more inclined to support a secondary candidate like Hillary if she didn't seem like everything we've seen as part of the problem. I simply don't believe her, and I don't trust her.
