But the law is not like the other 19 (At least?) states. Compare the language yourself.
I've read it. Nowhere does it explicitly apply to disputes between private citizens. In fact, the word 'citizen' isn't even in the text, and 'private' only refers to private employers, in which it states the bill doesn't give cause to private employees. It very explicitly states it's relating to government entities.
So then what's the point if we already have the Civil Rights Act that prevents discrimination based on religion?

>judging someone for their taste in alcohol
Are you guys serious? The point of alcohol is to get drunk, not to taste the drink.
If that were the case, White would be drinking straight liquor, not bitch-ass Mike's Hard.

Ugly car from the back.
But really, is this a good decision? All I need to do is come up with a pricing for this phone, it has an Otterbox and a almost flawlessly put on screen protector.
Honestly with all those problems you probably wont get much for it. Best suggestion is to see if you can trade it in for credit toward an upgrade through your carrier.

I can't wait for the day where a Muslim business owner refuses service to a Christian and they lose their shit about their religious freedoms being denied.
>implying moslems should be allowed to own businesses
This is Serious, broski.

Definitely city. Being out in the sticks is boring. I want to be able to go to a bar, concert, movie, sporting event, etc, pretty much any day of the week.

I don't care who wrote the law, I care what effects the law will eventually have.
You should. The people writing the law have a vested interest in its contents.

Yeah, only a couple of days ago, it was record high temperature here for March. Which can get pretty freaking hot since I'm living in California.
I'm so looking forward to it cooling off here.
Oh come on, we both know that'll never happen here. California's like a goddamn furnace any season of the year.
it's true. I'm for real considering moving somewhere cooler that gets some weather. Maybe Portland, OR?

Well liberalism isn't a religion, so I'm not sure what your point is.
While I obviously think religious people, and thus their convictions, are incorrect it's still about a wider point of convictions in general. I'm not thinking in explicitly religious terms.
Although Flee's post leads me to consider the idea that I might just be underestimating the amount of bigotry that exists in America at the moment. While I stand by the law in principle, it's entirely possible that--consequentially--Challenger is right, and I am wrong.
I would support the law if businesses were requiring Muslims to eat pork, or requiring Christians to attend non-Christian services, but serving LGBT customers is not in violation of any religious tenet. I get that people aren't always cool with LGBTs, but that's not part of their religion, that's just them being douches. Passing legislation like this in the name of religious freedom is dishonest.

Genuine question:
I know the Bible says gays aren't cool. But what exactly is the religious belief where you're not allowed to serve/interact/share a community with gays?
There isn't one. Like I said earlier in the thread, it's not about not wanting to serve gay people, it's about not wanting to participate in activities which are contrary to one's convictions. ..but if there isn't anything about denying services to gays in your religion, then it isn't a violation of your religious freedom.
There's nothing about liberalism that means I should decline services to neo-Nazis.
I should still be able to do that, though.
Well liberalism isn't a religion, so I'm not sure what your point is.

If they don't trust anyone else with the kid, it's either go with the kid or don't go at all. At least they're going to show up
That's the thing - they moved 30 miles away from here to live down the street from her parents so they could help with the kid.

Weddings are boring for pretty much anyone under 20 years old. Whiny little children can ruin the whole thing, especially a small ceremony. If the bride and groom detail there are no children invited, you don't show up with your kid. That's a dick move.

Well, one of my buddies is getting married in two weeks. It's a rather small wedding and small children are not invited.
Well, a mutual friend of ours recently had a baby. The baby is 4 months old now, obviously falling into the "no small children are invited" category. So, instead of leaving the baby with her mom/his in-laws for the night [who live 3 minutes from them, btw], they insist on bringing the child to the wedding, a 90-minute drive each way - no ifs, ands, or buts.
This will be interesting...

How would a business owner know if someone was gay? Like unless they told him, he'd have no clue.
You can tell.
Rarely. CNN's Don Lemon is gay.

You know how easy it is to just use this as an excuse to disallow gays or minorities into your establishments, right?
So?
If you don't like it, be a responsible consumer and boycott the business.
That may not be an option. May communities are staunchly anti-LGBT and citizens may have to go miles and miles out of their way to find a business that they are comfortable doing business with.

good, this should honestly be law everywhere. fuck your feelings, if I feel uncomfortable serving you I should have the right to refuse to serve you no matter your religion, sexuality, or favourite colour.
We already tried that, and that's why we have the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
