HOLY SHIT.  ONE business out of THOUSANDS is refusing to cater gay weddings!  Fuck me I guess we need legislation against that so that everyone can be serviced by a backwards-ass pizza parlor!
That quite obviously wasn't the point.

We were just talking about how businesses were just saying they wouldn't ever discriminate against a customer for something like that. Clearly some businesses would.

So where the fuck do they ride their bike?
The fucking sidewalk TO THEIR RIGHT
Gee, it must be nice living places where there are ample sidewalks to ride bikes on.

In fact, in most US states, the law says bikes are to ride in the street and not on the sidewalk.

Kinda. I just finished season 2, and I'm waiting for season 3 to be free on Amazon before I watch it all.

Sometimes I miss eating CFA, but I only ever want it on Sundays when I actually have free time, so I guess they did the work for me.

In some ways he has a point, but it depends on how you interpret his words at the end.

Can racism and discrimination lead to trauma? Potentially.
I'll just copy out the DSM summary stuff from my textbook here <.<

The individual has been exposed to or threatened with death, serious injury or sexual violation: by direct experience or by witnessing a traumatic event; upon learning about a violent or accidental death of a close friend or family member; or by extreme or repeated exposure to the effects of a traumatic event, such as emergency workers encountering human remains.

Note how that covers threatened with as well as exposed to. So it is possible for someone who is getting death threats as a result of racism/discrimination to develop PTSD/be traumatised by it. Possible, but I wouldn't say that's very likely. The individual in question would already have to be pretty heavily predisposed to PTSD to develop the symptoms following something 'less' traumatising like that.

What is bullshit is how they (Tumblrites) stole the term Trigger and it's conjugations from PTSD sufferers to make their petty problems seem more legitimate. Seeing something that upsets you is par for the course in life, that doesn't mean you have been fucking triggered by it. It's called being upset.

If you've been in a car crash and the sound of a car door slamming makes you freak out and break down into a nervous wreck, that's being triggered. Not crying because someone put gore in your sherlock tags or burst the cotton wool bubble you've wrapped yourself up in.

Ugh.

So mister marine there has a point, but it's not quite all there. That does depend on how nitpicky you want to go with it though <.<
I'd be more inclined to agree with mister marine if he wasn't such a condescending asshole about his position.

Too many people nowadays are scared of the blunt truth and rather than accepting it they point fingers at another party. Nobody takes responsibility, it's always on the other guy.
Aren't you a Republican?
I'd like your post, but I'd probably get attacked for being a brainless liberal.

Did this guy even go to college?

Reads just like he's just another conservative regurgitating the same bullshit. Nothing of substance here.

Of course you have no valuable input, you instantly disregard anything conservative. The face of the matter is, though, this guy is right. "Trauma" is too easily delegated out when so many of these idiots have no idea of what real trauma is.
Funny how I have no problem talking about conservative issues with Turkey and such, but apparently I hate conservatives.

Fuck off.
Lol you seem mad. Guess I touched a cord too close to home. Come on Max, you know perfectly well of your indignant liberal bias and your stark abilities to shrug off any conservative opinion just because it's conservative.
Except if you weren't such an ass you'd realize that isn't the case. Whatever.

Telling the truth bluntly makes me an ass? Typical liberal attitude, just like what the article was saying. Fucking pussies.

You know the best part? You're choosing to be offended. It's entirely within your own control to choose whether or not you're offended by anything. Take some responsibility for yourself.
I genuinely could not care less about the words you say to me. You have no bearing on my feelings.

All you're doing is indicating you have no intention for a discussion and just want to shit on liberals. Good job.

WALKERTON, Ind. - A small-town pizza shop is saying they agree with Governor Pence and the signing of the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The O'Connor family, who owns Memories Pizza, says they have a right to believe in their religion and protect those ideals.

“If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,” says Crystal O'Connor of Memories Pizza.

She and her family are standing firm in their beliefs.

The O'Connors have owned Memories Pizza in Walkerton for 9 years.

It's a small-town business, with small-town ideals.

“We are a Christian establishment,” says O'Connor.

The O'Connor family prides themselves in owning a business that reflects their religious beliefs.

“We're not discriminating against anyone, that's just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything,” says O'Connor.

So, when Governor Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law, the family was not disappointed.

“We definitely agree with the bill,” says O'Connor.

When ABC 57 asked O'Connor about the negative backlash the bill has been getting for being a discriminatory piece of legislation, she says that's simply not true.

“I do not think it's targeting gays. I don't think it's discrimination,” says O'Connor. “It's supposed to help people that have a religious belief.”

O'Connor says because she's a Christian, she and her family don't support a gay marriage and that is their right.

Kevin O'Connor, Crystal's father, says he believes the negative backlash the bill and its supporters are getting isn't fair.

“That lifestyle is something they choose. I choose to be heterosexual. They choose to be homosexual. Why should I be beat over the head to go along with something they choose?” says Kevin O'Connor.

The O'Connor family told ABC 57 news that if a gay couple or a couple belonging to another religion came in to the restaurant to eat, they would never deny them service.

The O'Connors say they just don't agree with gay marriages and wouldn't cater them if asked to.

Serious / Remember Ted Cruz's big announcement at Liberty University?

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/mar/25/jess-mcintosh/liberty-u-students-faced-fine-if-they-skipped-cruz/

Apparently students faced a fine if they didn't attend.

Quote
The university, founded by televangelist Jerry Falwell, requires its 13,500 residential students to attend as many as three events each week as part of a program called Convocation. There are sermons by guest pastors, performances from Christian entertainers and talks by leaders in many fields.

What happens if you don’t go?

The university’s student appeals court handbook has the list of consequences for various infractions. Missing Convocation is on the list. (A reprimand is a formal mark against a student’s record.) Here’s what the handbook says:

  • Each student should be familiar with these sanctions.

    1 Reprimand:

Late for curfew (1 additional reprimand for each 30 minutes late)

Late for Convocation (1 additional reprimand for each 15 minutes late)

    4 Reprimands + $10.00 Fine:

Absence from required meeting (Convocation, etc.)

    Disturbance/non-participation during Convocation

Dress/hair code violation (male or female)

Cruz’s presidential announcement was scheduled as a Convocation event by the university, therefore the penalty for a student’s absence would be four reprimands and a $10 fine.

Liberty University issued a statement about Cruz’s speech that confirmed that "missing Convocation is only a minor penalty, a $10 fine."
