Why the fuck are you all so caught up on the golf course? Tons of bases have them. Are you under the impression that bases are how they are in video games and movies where everyone lives in bunk beds in a giant hangar and you carry a gun everywhere? Families live there. There are usually several grocery stores, parks, bars, and yes, recreational facilities like bowling, golf, or movie theaters.
Holy crap, guys. Marines are people too; they like the same dumb shit you do.
Bowling allies, billiards, movies, etc, I understand. But a golf course? That's some luxury shit.

Also, it's likely there for the same reason that Camp Pendleton uses some of their areas as paintball/airsoft recreation - for marines to enjoy R&R and moral boost.
But the cost and maintenance that a golf course requires is significantly more than paintball at Pendleton
Who knows, maybe it means they can afford to have it, then?
If they can afford a golf course, they're getting too much of my money. A marine base doesn't need a golf course.

1. A phone call apology doesn't justify he's ego pushing them out of their PLANNED wedding for a golf game. I'd personally call him an asshole and hang up. Fucking interrupt my wedding for golf. If they chose to have the wedding on the marine base they chose it for a reason, and having it changed was clearly not their choice.
