I can't speak for everyone, but it seems cruel to be put into this world, get a taste of existence, just to have it stripped away 75 years later. There's a great sequence in True Detective where MM pretty much talks about how sentience, self-awareness, is a tragic flaw in evolution. Animals don't sit around all day and worry about death or think about nonexistence. They just live.
