Loot boxes are shit. Progression in general isn't very exciting. The game is fun enough on its own to keep me playing but I hope the competitive playlist helps that a bit
I wish they had some sort of character mastery or challenge system akin to battleborn. it would do wonders for making your play time feel more worthwhile.
I think the ranked mode will definitely give a better sense of progression though
Character mastery kinda fucks up the whole idea of "switching on the fly". Since people will focus the wrong character just to unlock a mastery and it will fuck up the team roster
this same argument can be made about other games that have mastery too. If I want character mastery on a carry character but all roles are taken except support either my mastery is fucked or my team comp is fucked If anything switching on the fly makes it easier because if somebody on your team is determined to play widow for mastery and you need a healer you can switch. It's not like people don't just play they character they want to anyway It's not like league where if I'm trying to get pantheon mastery and I get placed as support I just play pantheon there and fuck my team over but get that easy S+ (I wil admit I do this shit regularly)
