Which of the two do you feel is more important? I was thinking about experiments that have been conducted that advanced our knowledge but was through means that were unethical and was wondering which of the two you care for more. To give a few examples, one such experiment was Harry Harlow's research on attachment. For those who don't know about it. His research by our standards today would be seen as a gross violation of ethics, but this same research advanced our knowledge as a society during a time where parents believed that too much physical contact was bad for your child. Another study was baby Albert. This study forwarded our knowledge on classical conditioning but by doing it, a baby was subjugated to learning to fear stimuli by attaching them to loud noises. All these experiments, while insightful, are considered unethical. Was the knowledge gained in these experiments worth it though? Should we be less restrictive with ethics if it meant furthering ourselves as a people?

You know that one of the two times that you flip it, you will get heads. What is the chance of the other flip being heads as well. It's 50% correct?

What exactly are your feelings on it? For me, this has been something that I've had a great deal of trouble with since becoming an atheist.Non-existence after death to me nullifies the point of doing anything. At least when I was still religious, I could coerce myself to adhering to set behaviors due to the benefit of a heaven. A great deal of the time, I'll hear other atheists say that since this is the one shot you get, you need to make it worthwhile; that because there is no objective worth in life, you have to find your own subjective meaning. I just can't see it from that perspective. The way I see it, because in the grand scheme of things, you have so little impact that anything you do is nothing more than a waste. Yes, I do realize I am having an existential crisis, but it's been one that has been ongoing for over 3 years now. So, for those others who believe that the only thing we have to look forward to after death is worms eating our corpse, are you stuck within a similar mindset or do you believe in making your own meaning? Also, for those who had faced an existential crisis, what is it that brought you out of it? Spoiler I'm about to pass out, the thought just popped into my head again and I decided to go against my own norm and try to post something with discussion. I'll reply to people's posts tomorrow.

He is going to conform to the American/ Belgium way of things. Great, my first order as your ass slave is for you to get a tramp stamp saying Chips and Fries, with a tattoo on your left ass cheek of potato chips and french fries on your right.

Because I have a much more preferable alternative, satireposts. Yes, satireposts, a new and much better product than the old iteration. With satireposts, you can now hide any textual shit you say. It is hidden by a certain level of pretentiousness and eloquent word insertion.
With satireposts, you no longer be seen as a shitposter, but the next philosopher. Your words will hold such deep meaning that the masses all around will heed this calling. You will be seen as the next Plato, Aristotle, or Jaden Smith.
Satireposts can be yours, all for the cost of your soul; but wait, souls don't exist! That means that we are giving these things away for free! Yes, that's right, free! So come down to the hidden dojo in the mountains so we can train you through the use of the most severe training. By the time this is over you will be able to headbutt the Leaning Tower of Pizza back into place and drink the period blood of goats! So come on down!!!

Honestly, I don't even know if this shit would be better suited for here or serious but whatever.
Anyhow, it just seems like everything I do in life has no fulfilling end goal. It's nothing more then an accumulation to working a dead end job to have the money to keep myself living so I can continue to work. Really the only times I can say I am happy is when I am on drugs, beyond that, I have no happiness inside, just a hole of emptiness. Is this all life is, just doing what is expected and keep going on?

Now, in the time I have been here, I have noticed some faults within the system and wish to address them.
1. The current system of forums has allowed for shitposting to run rampant. I suggest that we counter this with a hashtag system so that people can post what they want and others can search for it.
2. The elitism here is too much. I believe this to be a fault of the current title system which is used as a basis of circlejerking. The fact that people are also able to be creative by having custom avatars also contribute to the problem. I suggest removing titles and make avatars ones you can choose from on the site itself.
3. The current color scheme here, while nice to look at, will cause problems with our eyesite. Research has shown that a light color pallet is better to look at for your eyes and will prevent future problems with them.
4. Threads has the ability to become derailed too easy. I suggest countering this with a sub-thread option, where you can reply to another person directly and it opens up a sub-discussion that won't clutter up the main discussion.
I do hope to see some of these future changes, I do think that they'll allow for this site to expand even further and become better.

>You get off from work early one day >Decide to surprise your girlfriend with a pizza and a movie from Redbox >Get the new Ellen Page flick because you know your girl is a huge fan >When you get home the house is completely dark >Call out for your girlfriend but she's not answering >Finally check the bedroom >The lights are off but you can make out two shadowy figures in your bed >Clothes all over the floor, bras, panties, jeans everywhere >Your girlfriend is startled “Oh my god, Anon, you weren't supposed to be home for another hour!” >Turn the light on and see that she's naked in your bed with another girl of all things >You spazz out and yell “You're fucking cheating on me with a chick!?” >Look closer at the girl she's with >You have to do a double take, you can't believe your eyes >It's Ellen Page >“W-what the fuck?” you stammer out, still holding the Ellen Page blu-ray in your hand >Your girlfriend is mortified, she's crying and apologizing >“I'm so sorry, Anon! She seduced me! I was j-just so confused!” >Ellen meanwhile has a smug look on her face and is sort of laughing >You yell at Ellen to get the fuck out of your house right now >Still just as smug, she responds “Relax, faggot. You should be thanking me. She finally got to experience an orgasm.” >Now you're furious >You want to throw a punch at Ellen but know you're not allowed to hit girls >Ellen just laughs at you and says, “Cool your jets, man. If you so much as look at me wrong, I'll tell the police you raped me. Who do you think they'll believe?” >Reluctantly you back down >Before Ellen collects her clothes and leaves the room, she bends over, her bare ass in full view, and gives your girlfriend a long, sensual kiss on the lips >“I'll definitely be seeing you again, honey” >Ellen looks you right in the eye while she swaggers out of your bedroom, leaving you a broken man Spoiler Yes, I did just rip this from /tv/.
