Which part?

The entire part.

In Halo 4, the modest opening to the Reclaimer saga, felt like the beginning of a new direction for Halo. But with Guardians it feels like they got a new writer and he said "Fuck all of y'all, I write comics 'n shit." And changed everything. Like, everything that happened in Spartan Ops is thrown out the window, Cortana's death is made irrelevant within 2 missions...

Jut feels like a drastic step in a different direction (ironically, the direction is the same that Bungie's Halo was going in.)
I can agree with that.

Brian Reed was a mistake.

THE SAME GUY WHO DID FUCKING SPARTAN OPS!?!

Well that explains it.
Yeah. Spartan Ops was a contained story so it fares much better than an actual feature storyline.

Mr. Psy, I see you prefer mediocre stories like 3 and bland stories like Reach.
3 had the best story
Reach had the best campaign
objectively.

which means i'm right and you are WRONG
>thinks that Halo 3, while enjoyable, had the best story
>that reach had the best campaign

get the fuk outta here, visitor.
Um, they did.

Halo 3 had the Covenant as a mission. That was hands down the most fun mission in any halo game ever. Two. Scarabs.

Reach had the best story narrative, the slow demise of your squad whilst you try to save the planet ;-;7 RIP remember reach never 5get.
One mission does not save it from a shitty plot full of holes.

While it had a good narrative (that butchered previously established lore), it had bland characters, bland settings and annoying squad AI.
I don't see any plotholes in the story.
You land on earth after halo 2, you link up with the friendly elites and shoot your way to the main base for the humans. You then help the humans on earth whilst the covvies dig up the keyship, which opens the portal to the ark. You go to the ark, stop them making more halo rings and the flood arrive to fuck shit up. You beat them all, escape but get cut off by the explosions/portal and go to sleep.

Not exactly full of holes tbh

The squad banter was good, you had Emile who killed aliens and doesn't afraid of anything and carter who takbir'd to kill a scarab and kat who couldn't drive for shit.
bland, no more so than the didact.

HURR I'M A SPACE VAMPIRE AND I HATE HUMANS

10/10 story

Reach was more enjoyable than 3.
Yeah, the campaign indeed was. Wasn't the best though. Had more fun playing CE and 2.

I wouldn't even say that, Korra.

At no point in the game did I go "Wow, that was cool/clever/interesting." It felt really shoehorned.
Which part? The ending? Just like the Star Child, Cortana is basically the Star Child controlling all the Reapers.

Except that these Reapers are like 1000000000x more powerful.

If you liked no map control, Call of Halo, and random care package drops

then yes

But I suspect most people's logic is "no armor lock/bloom so it's better", which is a good thing yes, but it still had much more going against it.
Nope, I cared for the story.

The multiplayer was shit, and I forgot about it.
The multiplayer which is the longevity of it, was horrible. So that's what I was talking about.
And I already agreed. Jeez, I'm in it for the universe, Halo 4 did good on that, but did horribly in the multiplayer department. So I eventually just reverted back to Halo 3, but occasionally went back to 4 just to play the campaign.
I honestly enjoyed Reach's campaign, though I do admit the characters were bland.
The campaign didn't make me care for the characters except for Jorge, the story butchered perfectly written canon because hue hue we bungie and we r bettur at dis fuk ur gud buk h3re tak our blund karakterz hue
As someone who didn't read the books (omg, I know r8???), I didn't have much problem with it. Book aside though, you can't tell me the scene below wasn't something that was sort of magical. Seeing how Halo 1 started being kicked off right before your eyes.

https://youtu.be/-ssHzOZRmUw?t=228
Well it kinda did because of already well established characters like Cortana and Captain Keyes.

Guess i'm gonna play the campaign on Halo 5 over and over again to understand the disappointment.
The first half of the campaign was really good. Second part was okay, which led to a shit ending.

Basically Halo 2 again, with a bit of Mass Effect 3 ending thrown in it.
