Chapter 7: Heavy Price Paid
Explosions. Bullets. Limbs flying around in the air. That was the scenario at the control room's apex, with TBlocks, Korra and Icywind holding their ground against onslaught after onslaught of Offtopite troops. Cheat was blasting them from afar, giving the team space to breathe. TBlocks could hear the cries of Longface through each Offtopite being brought down. "I HAVE BEATEN FORUMS OF THOUSANDS! CONSUMED A WEBSITE OF FLESH, MIND AND SHIT!!!" The disturbed Longface taunted, but the armored Canadian ignored him.
But then the shooting stopped and the trio regained their breath, Icywind approached the closed gate and punched it. "Open the door, its clear." Icy said. Cheat came down from his sniper nest and joined the others. The gates began to open.
"Not for long, motion tracker says that there will thousands more coming. They'll be here any minute." Korra said looking at her motion tracker. Cheat nodded and walked into the control room, the trio followed. The control room's doors opened and the trio beheld at the reconstructed Alpha Halo control room. The immense hologram of the Halo rotated in the middle of the great room as it had once done before.
"Korra." Cheat motioned towards the control panel, Korra nodded and walked towards it. Cheat looked at his brother-in-arms, TBlocks,"I'm not going to lose her too." He said to his friend.
TBlocks silently acknowledged. Cheat joined Korra at the control panel, Sentra flew towards them humming happily. Odd for someone like him, but the fact that they were going to activate the ring made him joyous. "Wonderful news! The station is almost complete!" Sentra said.
"Amazing." Cheat responded as he helped Korra prepare the activation key, Korra took out the activation index out of her backpack.
"No promises, but this station should be ready to fire...in just a few more days." Sentra informed them. This got Cheat's and Korra's attention.
"We don't have a few more days!" Korra worryingly said. The Halo wasn't fully finished, meaning that if it was fired everything would be blown up to kingdom come. Nothing would survive the explosion.
"B-but an early activation will destroy this ring!" Sentra protested.
"Deal with it." Cheat responded taking the activation index from Korra and putting it inside the control panel.
"It will destroy my...installation." Sentra worded to himself. And then, he acted. He shot Cheat on the back with his eye laser burning through his armor and flesh. Cheat screamed in pain, Korra quickly dodged the eye beam but was blown away by Sentra's powerful area of effect attack. Icy and TBlocks saw the treason and went to attack the treacherous Sentra but Icy was blasted away by the eye beam but survived by sheer luck.
"Unacceptable! Absolutely unacceptable!" Sentra yelled shooting TBlocks repeatedly, his armor's systems were beginning to malfunction. "Protocol demands action! I see now that helping you was wrong!"
A final shot brought TBlocks to his knees, his armor's energy shields broke apart. "You are the child of my makers, inheritor of all they left behind. You are Bungie! But this ring...is mine!" Sentra said, becoming full retard. TBlocks was thrown back into the closed entrance of the control room, hitting the metal gate hard. He saw that both Icy and Korra had been knocked out, he was alone. He loaded his assault rifle, and once again sipped some maple syrup.
"Let's rock." He said. TBlocks ran towards the crazed Sentra, avoiding each laser strike and shooting at the idiot. But the bullets didn't do nothing, Sentra's shields were too strong. TBlocks couldn't get close or he would be blasted into smithereens. Cheat opened his eyes and saw Sentra floating above him shooting at TBlocks.
Cheat, with his remaining strength, took out his laser cannon, the Isara, and aimed at Sentra. "Take this you son of a bitch!" Cheat yelled pulling his laser's trigger. The laser blast punched through Sentra's energy shields and armor shell. Sentra was forced away, giving TBlocks time to recover. TBlocks tan towards Cheat, "Kick...kick his ass." Cheat said before falling unconscious. TBlocks took the Isara off his hands.
Sentra flew back towards him, "That hurt! You will pay!" Sentra screamed, TBlocks had one last shot. Aim at his eye thingy. Sentra was prepared to blast TBlocks to death, TBlocks charged the laser cannon and so did Sentra. Boom! The two fired but TBlocks was faster, his laser beating Sentra's eye laser and penetrated Sentra's body tearing him in half. And then the crazed Sentra exploded into pieces.
TBlocks placed the cannon on the floor and walked towards Cheat. "I'm getting you out of here." TBlocks told his friend.
"No..no you're not." Cheat responded as he and TBlocks held hands like brothers. "Don't let her go...don't ever let her go. Send me off...with a bang." And with that said, Cheat passed away. TBlocks tried to contain his emotions, he saw Korra and Icy regaining composure. Korra walked towards him...
"I'm sorry..." Korra said.
TBlocks stood up and sighed. "Activate the ring, we're done here." TBlocks said. Korra walked towards the control panel and pushed the activation index in. The entire control room shook with the energy beam blasting through the center of the control room. Korra and TBlocks ran towards the now opened exit where Icy was waiting.
