above the fridge in this nook we never use, it was just a $20 sitting there as I was trying to find my cigarettes
I did the awkward thing and just asked my stepdad if he had lost any money recently because I had found some and he said no
so looks like I'm tripping / getting stoned tonight!

but I think I thought of the wrong person lol
and I also messaged my very short term gf from a while ago and asked if she wanted to get coffee and told her about my new job, that's the scarier thing

tolerating intolerance leads to intolerance of tolerance
It's not tolerating it. There are many ways to combat racism/sexism/bigotry, and the best one is social ostracization or being unable to find a job because no one wants to associate with you. Going and inciting violence against them isn't only immoral, it makes them look like the oppressed victims and makes them dig in their heels more.

Violence against ideas is authoritarian
could just be cathartic
A lot of it is probably very cathartic for people, but it's still essentially telling someone that they don't have a right to express their opinion without the threat of physical harm.
A society where that is acceptable is not free.
freedom is overrated
Where do we draw the line? Saying "violence in response to a thought is wrong" is a practical, enforceable ideal. With "violence is okay in response to dangerous thoughts", you need a government to dictate what dangerous thoughts entail. What if they decided antinatalistic views are dangerous? What if they decided they can monitor your posts on the Internet, and because privacy is useless if you're not doing anything wrong, you have no way to defend yourself from that? I respect a lot of your views, but sometimes you come off as very reactionary, and this is one of those cases. You need to think out the long term consequences of these kinds of social vendettas against the wrong people.

Also I'm not a centrist, the middle ground isn't always right
But I don't see advocating against violence of any kind against non-violent offenders to be the middle ground. It's just not as extreme as "kill everyone with a dangerous opinion"

Why's that?
the idea of living 50+ years in this fucked up world with this fucked up body is disgusting, and that's even with my youth, imagine being 40 something
Imagine getting to 4O and realizing you still havenβt found or created what you need to feel alright even after the long long years of searching and stumbling only to find out you were right when you thought you would be better dead at 18
that's a given lol hence why I fill my life with as many miracles and mistakes I can manage, better to have some good experiences than scrimping and saving your health for a life you don't want

why is it not a good idea to wait until you have money to buy something
Of course it's a good idea to wait until you're able to afford something, but whether or not you should actually buy it as soon as you're able to depends a lot on what it is and how much money you have. It tends to be a pretty good idea to build up a reserve and have money on hand for whatever might come your way as to invest, get interest, build credit, put it towards big long term projects like property, and to avoid having to go in debt, defaulting payments, hurting your credit score or just screwing yourself in any way. It's perfectly fine to wait and save up for big(ger) purchases, but if you can't afford to just go out and drop as small of an amount as $60 on something you want, then chances are you're probably not in a situation where you should do just that the moment you've got some cash again.
i mean, i guess you're not wrong, in the sense that we could all be more generally responsible with our money, but i just think there's a time and place to be dropping wisdom like that
either way, i wouldn't describe $60 as a small amount when we're talking about video games, especially to someone who probably doesn't even consider them to be anything more than meaningless entertainment
Fair enough, but I don't think this is a bad time to mention it. In his own words, this is Class his first "real" job and he clearly doesn't have it all sorted yet. He can say he doesn't care about financial stability but he's setting himself up for failure big time that way.
And $60 is a reasonably small amount of money by most general standards. In terms of video games it's of course not that little as it's the full price of a brand new game, but I'd stay it's still well within the range of what you ideally should be able to spend on luxury / entertainment at a given time. If you don't have that amount of discretionary spending available between paychecks, then you might want to budget things a bit differently or spend that money elsewhere.
im dying in the next five years lol why should I care about my credit

i won't even buy a meal's worth of food if it's over $10, so i'd have to be crazy to drop $60 on a game without thinking about it first
believe me I've thought about this I feel guilty when I spend money lol No youβre definitely a worthless piece of shit but that doesnβt magically make you a child. Youβre an adult.
okay I retract my child claim

LOL look at this dude my credit is probably terrible, I constantly get bills for student loans/medical stuff and just ignore them when I have money it's rare, I've spent 90% of my life with no money - why do I need money on hand to buy RDR2 lol? You have an actual job, I live with my mom and have been working at Burger King and shit, this hotel job I have is my first real job. I'm not an adult, I don't even drive, and yeah when I get money first thing I do is pay my mom and buy myself something nice Might not be the best idea to grab a brand new game if you have to wait to get paid until you can get it.
Huh?
I don't get it, how else would I pay for a game? You kinda need money to buy things lol?
It's not that you have to pay for it, it's that you have to wait before you're able to pay for it. Unless that's not the case and I'm reading too much into it, but saying pointing out that you'll be waiting on your paycheck before buying a game you could otherwise just get right now does give that impression. You do you of course, but it seems a bit strange from a personal finance perspective.
Really confused about this. I have $0 right now because I already spent my last paycheck on bills/rent/fun/games, and when I get my next paycheck I'll likewise spend it on bills/rent/fun/games. I don't always have money on hand lol, do you?
Well yeah, I do. That's kind of what financial stability means.
Whoever said I have financial stability? That has never been a thing I've had or am pursuing

Like obviously I get where Flee is coming from. He's saying that if you've had the job for a while and you can't just buy the game now then it means you've got nothing in your bank account and if that's the case you need to focus on saving money rather than buying a video juega
I guess so, but if I had spare money I'd just buy more expensive drugs / take an uber home one day instead of the bus
Dude trust me, save at least 50 dollars if you wanna live recklessly. Don't save money to live in luxury, just do it for rainy days
I just spent my weekend with $0 and so wish I took this advice I can get drunk for like $6 at the very least
