Gaming / What game series would you like to see make a comeback?
« on: August 04, 2016, 10:23:46 AM »
I wish Command and Conquer would come back after the complete disaster that was C&C 4. God man that game was so awful and pretty much killed the Command and Conquer franchise. I would love to see this series make a comeback someday with a brand new Tiberian or Red Alert game.

I also wish a developer would pick up the licenses of Army Men and Battle Tanx. Those IPs should still be up for grabs since 3DO has been out of business for nearly a decade. I want a good vehicle focused combat game on this gen and bringing back Battle Tanx would be awesome.

PSU is a redneck is disguise who condones the rape of children
He also stole a foul ball from an elderly woman last year. That was caught on camera too.

The Fast and the Furious: Forrest Gump
That movie was okay at best
Its the last one of those movies that focused on racing and Need For Speed-level of a storyline and I miss that shit

Some movie reviewers on Youtube said that the movie is pretty great but has pacing issues and they enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. I'm gonna watch more youtubers to solidify the movie.

The fact that movie reviewers with the exception of RedLetterMedia being scared to shit on the movie concerned me.

Looks like a Michael Bay film. I'll pass.
But there wasn't sparkler explosions/explosions in general, an attractive blonde female actor, stereotypical characters, and Shia LaBeouf screaming "OPTIMUS!!"

So apparently in the Summer Games trailer, there's something or someone that is invisible sitting on the goal and people are saying that this is Sombra.

I'm sure it will be as good as you'd expect a movie made for setting up "King Kong vs Godzilla" to be.
Well no shit. I'm not expecting The Godfather.

>Bring back the ape

I never understood this about the movies.
Doesn't look like that's the case for this movie. Kong was bitchslapping those helicopters out of the sky.

Nobody seems to be talking about this movie so here's my thoughts on it from what we see in the trailer. I know I'm super late on this but fuck it.

I love the whole Vietnam War era theme the movie is going for. We've had 2 King Kong movies take place in the 1930s already so switching the theme and tone of the franchise is great and welcomed. Seeing the same thing for the 3rd time will get old.

The movie also has an all-star worthy cast to carry the human character side of the movie. The 2005 King Kong movie's actors were... alright I guess. I couldn't take Jack Black seriously throughout that movie however so I'm glad that this new movie is having actors with great track records.

As for King Kong himself, he's enormous and looks like it is the biggest King Kong we'll see just like the director said. They're going to have to make him huge obviously if they want him to take on Godzilla in the upcoming Godzilla vs King Kong movie. It also seems like they're going to ignore the affection that King Kong has towards the main female character of the movie and go for a more destructive, angrier, and more badass Kong than we have ever seen.

Well aside from all of that, I'm pretty excited for this movie mostly because its setting up Godzilla vs King Kong that we won't get until 2020. I can't wait that long god dammit.

The Flood / Curse? Coincidence? Or just bad?

Now some would say that its silly that the Chicago Cubs are cursed and just a coincidence that they've been a terrible team throughout most of their history, but there are some things that have happened that made people rethink about this.

In the 1969 season, the Cubs were the favorites to win it all. Towards the end of the season, a black cat ran onto the field during a game and went near Chicago's dugout. After that game, the Cubs would go on to lose 20 games out of 26 that were left and lost the division lead to the New York Mets who would go on to win the World Series that year.

This next thing didn't actually involve the Cubs directly, but in the 1986 World Series it was the New York Mets vs the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox were 1 out away from their first championship in 68 years. For a few seconds on the titantron, the prompt "Congratulations to the 1986 World Series Champions, Boston Red Sox!" appeared by mistake. After that, a groundball from a Mets batter went towards the first basemen of the Red Sox, Bill Buckner. The ball went under his glove and went into the outfield, allowing a runner from 2nd base to score and tie the game. Bill Buckner used to play for the Cubs and he was wearing a Cubs batting glove under his catching glove. The Mets would score again on a wild pitch and win the game, forcing a game 7 in which they won and became the champs yet again.

Fast forward to 2003 and the Cubs are in the playoffs again. They've reached the NLCS and were facing the Florida Marlins. In Game 6, the Cubs needed to just get 5 more outs to advance to the World Series to take on the Yankees. A foul ball was hit in left field by a Marlins player and the Cubs's left fielder was going to catch it but a fan leaned in and caught it instead. When this happened, the momentum of the game changed drastically. Next thing that happened was a double-play ball was hit to the shortstop but he fumbled the ball and all the runners were safe. The Marlins would go on to score 8 runs in the inning and win the game 8-3 and tie the series 3 games a piece. I swear, I have never heard a crowd go from super loud to super quiet like this game. I go back and watch that game and there was definitely some weird mojo going on that night and I feel bad for the fan that caught that ball. He got so many death threats and could not show his face in public after what happened. There was even an ESPN 30 for 30 special on this incident.

Now the year is 2008, 100 years after the Cubs's last championship victory, and the Cubs were statistically the best team in baseball in every category basically. They met my Dodgers(The worst team stats-wise out of any playoff team that year) in the playoffs. The Dodgers swept them in the first round and it was glorious to watch. I'll never forget that grand slam from James Loney in game 1.

Last year, the Cubs reach the playoffs again and win against the Cardinals in the first round. The Cubs met the Mets in the NLCS. Daniel Murphy, a player from the Mets, ends up powering his way through Cubs pitchers and set a home-run record by a single player in the postseason. This is where it gets a little freaky. Murphy was the name of the goat that was kicked out of the Cubs's game in 1945 when the owner of the goat placed the curse on the Cubs. The Mets swept the Cubs and advanced to the World Series in which they lost to the Royals. Daniel Murphy's performance in the World Series was horrific and nothing compared to his NLCS performance.

And finally here we are in the 2016 season. In the second game of the season, the Cubs lost one of their players to injury until next year and he played a key part of their 2015 season and postseason. Despite that the Cubs are statistically the best team in baseball, much like the 2008 team. We still have this month and September to see how things will shape up so this will be interesting.

Anyways so yeah, that's the Curse of the Billy Goat. I wondered if any of you actually think the Cubs are cursed or anything or if this is just all shocking coincidences that they've unfortunately gone through.

I just wanted to share this because I love the rich history that baseball has to offer.
