The Flood / I'm not crazy after all
« on: July 28, 2016, 05:12:56 AM »
We got some new workers here at Target and when they were cleaning the fitting rooms, they heard noises like someone was knocking on the walls and one of the girls said that the door locks in the women's restrooms were making noises too.

I've heard the same noises too and I've made a thread about it a few weeks ago. The girl that's been working here longer told me that the stockers have heard and seen stuff too so I'm not the only one.

There's probably an explanation for all these things that are happening but now that others have heard/seen stuff, I'm more curious than I was before on what could be making these sounds.

Buts its fine you guys, nothing to worry about. We're just gonna have to learn to live with terrorism.

Quote
An 84-year-old priest was killed and four other people taken hostage by two armed men who stormed his church in a suburb of Rouen in northern France.
The two attackers, who said they were from the so-called Islamic State (IS), slit Fr Jacques Hamel's throat during a morning Mass, officials say.
Police surrounded the church and shot dead both hostage-takers. French media named one of them as Adel K.
One of the hostages is in a critical condition in hospital.

President Francois Hollande, visiting the scene, in Saint Etienne-du-Rouvray, said the attackers had committed a "cowardly assassination" and France would fight IS "by all means".
Pope Francis decried the "pain and horror of this absurd violence".
UK Prime Minister Theresa May branded the attack "sickening" and offered her condolences to the people of France.
The suspect named as Adel K, aged 18, is reported to have been in custody and then placed under a control order, and had tried to enter Syria twice.
Police special forces raided a house in the suburb in the aftermath of the attack, and French prosecutors earlier said one person had been arrested.

The attack happened during morning Mass at the historic church, situated in a quiet square of St-Etienne-du-Rouvray.
A nun, who identified herself as Sister Danielle, said she was in the church at the time.
"They forced [Fr Hamel] to his knees. He wanted to defend himself, and that's when the tragedy happened," she told French media.
"They recorded themselves. They did a sort of sermon around the altar, in Arabic. It's a horror".
She said she managed to flee as they were preparing to kill him.
Elite police units, specialised in hostage-taking, surrounded the church.
President Hollande said the attackers claimed to be from the self-styled IS before they were killed by police as they came out of the church.
Three of the hostages were freed unharmed, but one remains in a critical condition, said French interior ministry spokesman Pierre-Henri Brandet.

The Flood / As with Napalm, I too bought figures
« on: July 25, 2016, 10:16:25 PM »
Its time I started to collect Star Wars figures so today I got these Rey and Finn black series figures. BB-8 came with Rey. I think my next purchases will probably be some Stormtroopers. I wanted to get the First Order Pilot troopers cause I think they look so cool but unfortunately they didn't have any. The guy gave me a pretty good deal for them too.
Spoiler

And I wonder who would end up winning in a fight between these two. I finally got my Nova to stand perfectly for once without the figure stand.

The Flood / What should I do?
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:13:38 PM »
I'm scheduled to work tonight but I'm insanely tired and don't feel like going anywhere. I texted my boss saying that I'm unable to go in tonight and can makeup the day on one of my days off but he hasn't replied back.

This is my first time calling in since I started working in March. The other employees I work with have called in multiple times already since I started working so I think I should be okay.

If I don't get a text back from him, what do I do? Do I stay home or end up goin still?

The Flood / Kong: Skull Island first look
« on: July 15, 2016, 07:02:07 PM »
The director says "Its the biggest King Kong you'll ever see" even though in King Kong vs Godzilla he was much bigger lol

Anyways, I'm pretty pumped for this film. The cast seems pretty great too so that's a good thing as well. Its a great time to be a fan of monster movies.

Quote
The new Kong is “much larger,” which Vogt-Roberts says cuts to the core of the new film. “The film takes place in the ’70s,” he explains. “The ’70s was a time where it was believable that we could still be confronted with myth. And there was still unknown in the world.” At the start of the decade, NASA launched a satellite program later known as LANDSAT, which involved satellites mapping the world from space – the end of that “unknown.” In the film, “this island pops up,” leading the characters to investigate.

Hiddleston plays an ex-British SAS tracker; Larson is a war photographer, “who’s seen all sorts of terrible, terrible things.” Vogt-Roberts avoids any specific details about what they find on the island, but he’s adamant about what they don’t find. “We’re very explicitly not telling the beauty and the beast story,” he says. “The original is a classic, the ’70s version is great for what it is, and Peter’s version is a great retelling of the 1933 film.”

Instead, Skull Island digs into the mythos of Kong’s homeland. And a key part of that mythos is, well, size. “The thing that most interested me was, how big do you need to make [Kong], so that when someone lands on this island and doesn’t believe in the idea of myth, the idea of wonder – when we live in a world of social and civil unrest, and everything is crumbling around us, and technology and facts are taking over – how big does this creature need to be, so that when you stand on the ground and you look up at it, the only thing that can go through your mind is: ‘That’s a god.’” Pretty big, we’re guessing? “You will see when we drop a trailer,” Vogt-Roberts teases.

Because these are really the only successful movies Brendan Fraser had. The first two movies now are nothing special, but they're still entertaining as hell to watch even with their super-outdated CGI and cheesy dialogue. That's what gives those movies their charm that I can deal with when watching them.

The Flood / The women's restroom
« on: June 25, 2016, 05:27:36 AM »
You would think the men's restroom would be dirtier but lmao nope, the women's restroom here is absolutely disgusting.

These past couple days I've thrown away pregnancy tests, wiped what I'm pretty sure was blood on the floor but I hope wasn't, and today I've thrown away 2 used tampons, and last but not least, McDonald's bags with food in them still. What the fuck.

Also if you didn't know, inside the stalls are little compartments with sandwich bags in them where women throw away trash and whatnot. For fucks sake, every single compartment is full of trash but the sandwich bags are smashed in there with nothing in them. It's ridiculous.

That's just part of my job I hate the most. The rest is pretty easy and chill and I like that.

So yeah, the women's restroom is a very disgusting place. I feel like I gotta drown myself in bleach everytime I finish cleaning it.

Gaming / Minor details in games that you appreciate?
« on: June 19, 2016, 09:44:13 PM »
This can be anything from sound effects, art designs, or something you enjoy from gameplay etc.

I really liked how in MW2 when your gun had FMJ, the bullets would explode and make a different impact noise when they hit surfaces. The color of your bullets changed to red and the muzzle flash on your gun was different too. This made the guns I used feel much stronger, like they should be. Future CoDs that had FMJ in them didn't have this when your gun had the attachment. It stayed the same and that really disappointed me.

The Flood / Spoiler Got back from watching Warcraft
« on: June 13, 2016, 12:11:06 AM »
Why are people tearing this movie apart like its the worst thing ever? It's not even the worst movie ever as some people are making it out to be. I was entertained throughout the entire movie and my friends who don't know a damn thing about the Warcraft universe enjoyed it a lot too and now they're interested in knowing more about the lore and stuff. I was also surprised at how many people were in the theater too, and there was all kinds of age groups in the room.

The movie has its flaws obviously, like most of the human characters not being likable at all besides Khadgar in my opinion. Lothar had his moments but he was pretty meh. Also the movie did start off pretty slow too but thankfully it picked up.

I think this movie did its job well and it also teased the sequel which I'm excited for. If they go with Warcraft 3 and Arthas's rise to power then I'll be hyped as fuck and in the theater day 1 to see that.

The Flood / The new TMNT was absolutely horrific
« on: June 10, 2016, 05:56:27 AM »
This movie was so stupid and there was multiple times where I wanted to walk out. However when you put this to the one that came out a few years ago, Out of the Shadows is a better movie than that one.

Pros of this movie:
- Shredder is an actual character and human in this one.
- The Foot Clan aren't dudes with machine guns and explosives. They're actually ninjas like they're supposed to be.
- The turtle's personalities are way better and fleshed out in this one.
- Action scenes were pretty good

Cons
- Casey Jones felt like he was just added to please fans. He didn't do ANYTHING in this movie and they completely fucked up his character.
- Shredder was portrayed better but he was basically Captain Phasma in this movie.
- Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman couldn't be taken seriously. He was too goofy and his inner Madea was showing.
- Megan Fox once again can't act to save her life.
- Bebop and Rocksteady had some moments but most of the time they were pretty cringey.
- Krang wasn't in this movie long enough.
- This movie was not funny at all. The audience, with a lot of kids in the theater too, barely laughed at any joke the movie throws at you.

This movie was terribad and I regret watching it. I know I'm late on this but with my schedule I finally had time to watch it... which I wish I had not.

Anyone else here watch it? I envy you if you didn't.

Gaming / Infinite Warfare pre-order numbers are in
« on: June 08, 2016, 05:06:34 PM »
The pre-orders are abysmal with them barely over the 30,000 mark for PS4 and Xboner. Black Ops 3 at this point last year had nearly 10x the amount of pre-orders for both PS4 and Xboner.

Now I know everyone doesn't pre-order, but jesus christ this is getting even more sad as time goes on as IW continues to get hate across the internet. If the footage of IW multiplayer and CoD 4 doesn't sell over the crowd at E3, then Activision may be in deeper shit than they already are.

Gaming / Overwatch review
« on: June 06, 2016, 01:28:49 PM »
This is my third attempt at typing this review. After scrapping the first two after not liking how they looked and how I typed them, I figured the third time's the charm. So here's my take on Blizzard's newest game, Overwatch.

The Game
Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer focused FPS game created by Blizzard. This is their first new IP since Starcraft way back in 1998 so Overwatch is kind of a big deal. This is also Blizzard's first take on the FPS genre after having a history with RTSs and MMOs. How does Overwatch fit in today's gaming industry? How is the game? I will try to explain everything in this review.

The Story
Believe it or not this game actually has a backstory to it. Its a shame that this game doesn't have a campaign but I'm kind of glad it doesn't have one after pulling a Mass Effect 3 that Blizzard went with the Legacy of the Void campaign for SC2. What we have with Overwatch's story as of right now is simple and sweet, especially with the absolutely amazing animated shorts Blizzard has been releasing. I'm excited to see more of these released in the future.

In a futuristic Earth setting, robots called Omnics and other machines rose and started to cause havoc around the world. The United Nations created the organization known as Overwatch to fight the Omnics. The Omnics were eventually defeated by Overwatch and people around the world were happy that they could count on these heroes to be there when they needed help. Not everyone liked Overwatch however, as more corruption and violence began to spread across the world. The people began to distrust Overwatch and the corruption spread to this organization as the United Nations revealed of another group they have made called Blackwatch which were vicious assassins.

Overwatch unfortunately came to an end when the HQ was destroyed that supposedly took the lives of the leaders, Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes. The rest of the heroes split after this and Overwatch was nothing but a distant memory.

The Heroes
Overwatch as of right now is filled with 21 heroes to play as. All of these heroes are unlocked and free to play at your will whenever you like. The Heroes are split into 4 classes: Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support.

Offense Heroes:
- Genji
- McCree
- Reaper
- Pharah
- Soldier 76
- Tracer

Defense Heroes:
- Bastion
- Widowmaker
- Hanzo
- Mei
- Torbjorn
- Junkrat

Tank Heroes:
- D.Va
- Winston
- Reinhardt
- Roadhog
- Zarya

Support Heroes:
- Mercy
- Lucio
- Symmetra
- Zenyatta

All of these heroes have their own unique abilities to utilize in battle. Some heroes like Soldier 76 and Reinhardt have 3 abilities as compared to 2 like most others. Every Hero also has an Ultimate which charges slowly over a period of time. The Ultimate can be charged faster by hitting/killing enemy heroes as well as performing other tasks. For example, Mercy's Ultimate can be charged rather quickly when you're healing and damage buffing allies. The Offensive and Support heroes are what I mainly play as. The others aren't really my thing but I am learning how to play as Tanks and more Defense heroes. What I do like about this is that no matter your playstyle, there is a hero just for you and I commend Blizzard for that.

One thing I absolutely love about Blizzard's games is the love and dedication they put into their character designs. Everything about Overwatch's heroes from the designs, voice acting, and overall appeal is fantastic and top notch. The cast of heroes in this game is incredibly diverse also and people from nearly all backgrounds can enjoy these heroes. Favorites of mine are Pharah, Mercy, Lucio, Soldier 76, and Reaper. I adore Pharah's armor design cause there's something about women in power armor that I find hawt, Lucio's way to use music in combat, Soldier 76's inspired Clint Eastwood/The Punisher personality, and Reaper's edgy attitude.

I look forward as to who or what we will be seeing next on this awesome set of heroes.

The Gameplay
- A lot of people like to compare this game to Team Fortress 2. Personally I have never played that game myself and have watched very little gameplay of it so I can't really say anything about the similarities. However when I do play Overwatch, I get a classic Halo and CoD vibe from it. What I get from classic Halo is how there is no aiming-down sights and no sprinting except for Soldier 76's kit. What I get from CoD is that there's a Kill-cam to see how you were killed and the gun play at times does feel a little twitchy, plus the kill times are very quick in this game. With Halo and CoD getting progressively worse as time goes on, I'm glad that I can get a classic feel from those games when I play Overwatch. It just makes the game more enjoyable for me and I love that. I hope I am not the only one that feels like this.

- Right now there are 3 gamemodes across 12 maps. There's Assault in which the defending team must stop the attacking team from capturing two points on the map. There's Escort which the defending team must stop the attacking team from escorting a payload across various points on the map. And lastly there's Control which plays like King of the Hill as both teams must capture and hold an objective for a period of time in order to win. The maps are designed to only have a specific game mode on it which sucks, I wish the maps were designed so that we could play any gamemode on any map. I hope in the future we get more Escort maps because I enjoy playing that mode the most out of the 3. I also hope we get more game modes too as just 3 is not enough by today's standards. Hopefully we get some sort of Capture the Flag or VIP modes too. I think with the way this game was made, those modes would fit perfectly. I'm also surprised that there's no Deathmatch of any type.

- Players can change heroes at any time too. Finding the perfect hero comp to combat the other team is something players will have to go through every game. Having a mix between all hero classes on your team is a great thing but the other team may have a Reaper or Junkrat for example that will counter your comp. Switching your hero is not technically a must-do but if something is not working then switching up your comp may work. Full teams of a single hero is fun and all but when you're on the receiving end it may not be all that fun. I do hope that full teams of a single hero is not allowed in competitive play. Thankfully full teams of a single hero is not that often an occurrence.

The Graphics
Ever since we first saw footage of Overwatch, people came out and said that the game looked like a Pixar movie. I can agree with them on that to a certain extent but the overall cartoon-feeling I get from Overwatch's graphics is a great feeling.

All the maps are great to look at especially Ilios, Route 66, Dorado, and Temple of Anubis. This game is really colorful too and I'm glad Blizzard went with an art direction such as this because it fits the game's mood perfectly.

The Soundtrack
The soundtrack for Overwatch is pretty good I'd say. Its not something I would listen to while browsing other websites but its okay. When you start up the game you hear the same orchestral track which is the main theme, it also plays after a match.

I do enjoy that every map's loading screen has a different tune to it. I like Route 66's loop because it reminds of the Terran music from Starcraft which is cool.

Here's some tracks:

Extra Content
- Each hero has 54 items to unlock. These items vary from skins, voice lines, sprays, emotes, victory poses, and highlight intros. The way you unlock these things is either buying them with in-game currency or getting lucky by getting them from Loot Boxes. Loot Boxes are either earned by leveling up or by buying them with real money. Do not worry, I know this sounds bad but this game is NOT pay to win thankfully. When it comes to skins, I hope Blizzard does some cross-universe skins for some of the characters like what they're doing in Heroes of the Storm. I would go nuts if they make a Terran Goliath skin for D.Va and Nova skin for Widowmaker.

- The leveling system is pretty basic and what you'd expect. You gain exp for completing matches, earning medals, etc. plus you get bonus exp when playing with friends. As of right now there's no Ranked play but Blizzard has confirmed that it will be coming this month. I am curious as to how this ranking system will work. I think they will borrow Starcraft 2's ranking system.

- One of my favorite things that is in this game is how detailed the stats are. There's stats for literally everything you do in Overwatch and there's an Average statistic for them too so you can look at those stats and try to do better to raise them up. I give Blizzard props for making such a detailed statistic system because I'm always looking at them to see in which fields I can improve on for certain heroes.

- Another one of my favorite features is the Play of the Game which shows at the end of every match. My friends and I are always attempting to pull off something amazing to get PoTG so we can showoff what we did. The PoTG system is still a little broken though so I hope Blizzard over time will fix it because seeing Torbjorn hammer his turret is starting to get old and you rarely see a Support or Tank earn PoTG. If you don't get PoTG, the game saves your best moments from all of your matches in the Highlights section which is pretty cool. I'm glad this feature was added.

A hilarious video paroding a infamous Torbjorn play of the game:
YouTube

- And last but not least, there's custom Button Mapping for this game. Nuff said.

Final Verdict
Overwatch is a really fun and exciting game. I've been enjoying it a whole lot and this game is a must-have if you have a group of friends to play with. It just makes the game even more intense and fun to play when you have a lot of people playing alongside you. I have not invested my time and dedication into an FPS this much since MW2.

The game does suffer from a lack of gamemodes as of right now but I do believe that this will get better as the game's life cycle goes on, same with maps. When we get Ranked play, I do think this will bring a new-challenging experience to Overwatch. Another gripe I have with the game is how you can't leave matches with your group on console. I do hope Blizzard fixes this because leaving and having to invite your friends all over again is just tedious.

Blizzard did fine work with Overwatch and this game will surely put them back into the gaming juggernaut they once were and for that I give this game a 8/10. I do believe that gaming websites giving Overwatch 9s and 10s is a bit too extreme. Maybe when we get more heroes, more maps, more gamemodes, and ranked play then it will be a 9.
