Gaming / Halo 3 came out 9 years ago today
« on: September 25, 2016, 04:18:48 PM »
9 years ago the last Halo game was released. This was the first game I had a chance to really sit down and play on Xbox Live with and was my first Xbox 360 game. I met a bunch of people I still talk to, including all you guys.

Had so many great times on Halo 3. Had Grifball match where I went 120 and 10, a match where me and a random were the only ones left on our BTB team and we still won against a full team, and a BTB Heavies match on Sandtrap where I was using the Gauss Hog to snipe people from across the map on one of the sand hills.

Oh Halo 3, even with your god awful netcode I still had endless amounts of fun in matchmaking, campaign, and custom games.

What are some of your best memories with Halo 3?

The Flood / Back from Los Angeles
« on: September 25, 2016, 04:29:15 AM »
AND IT WAS A GLORIOUS DAY LADS

I went through Hollywood Boulevard for the first time in my life and it was soooo fucking cool. I saw a bunch of people dressed up as comic book characters like Spider-Man, Captain America, and a sexy ass Catwoman eating a hot dog like a champ. I also saw a complete, exact Michael Jackson look-alike... like holy shit, he's alive! I even saw a Black Zorro. Unfortunately we didn't park and get off as we just passed through. We're going again this Friday though and this time we will walk around and shit. I even saw and passed by the building I live in GTA Online and that made my fuckin' year.

But the main reason we went to Los Angeles was to the Dodger Game, aka my second home. I've sat in nearly every spot of the stadium and I love it more every time I go. The Dodgers smashed the Rockies 14-1 and I think I lost my damn voice.

Some pics from the game. We got the best seats I could ask for(Couldn't get pics on Hollywood Blvd because my phone was sucking ass there for some reason, everything came out blurry. I seriously need a new one):

The Flood / AMA Sent in my 2 weeks notice at work the other night
« on: September 19, 2016, 12:37:31 PM »
My boss is an idiot and he's never there at the store to help us out or evaluate us on what we're doing. We went a whole week without a vacuum before he finally showed up to fix it. On top of that, I got my hours severely cut along with a few coworkers without notice or reasons why. I text and call my boss all the time to ask him why my hours were cut but he never responds. I'm just really annoyed by all this and so are my coworkers so that's why I sent in my 2 weeks notice because I'm tired of the bullshit.

So yeah, October 2nd will be my last day at that job. Having 6 months of experience is nice but now I gotta be extremely tight with my money now as I search for a new job.

Shin Godzilla was co-directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion’s Hideaki Anno and Attack On Titan’s Shinji Higuchi, and it’s already the highest-grossing live action film of the year in Japan. Also, though a bad English dub would be a little more traditional, the American release will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.

Bad english dubbing over subtitles come on Toho!

The Flood / Who was the worst teacher you've ever had?
« on: September 09, 2016, 03:48:20 AM »
Sophomore year I had a Turkroach lady for my English teacher. She could barely speak english herself which was hilarious and nobody in the class liked her. There were days when she would basically send the entire class to ISR for the whole period, and once a guy accidentally dropped his textbook and she sent him to ISR for that. I was on good terms with her though cause I never gave her a hard time. I had this class for 1st period so I would just sleep most of the time and was always late and I never got in trouble. I think I was the only one that passed that class too.

The Flood / The Mazda RX-9 is coming
« on: August 25, 2016, 02:40:30 AM »
I'm loving the look of the RX-9 as it seems to look like a mix between the RX-7 and RX-8 but at the same time being modern too.

Its also rotary-powered just like its older brothers and will reportedly weigh just a little under 3000lbs with 400hp which is pretty damn good. I just wonder what the price for one of these will be, hopefully its nothing too ridiculous.

I'm also happy that Mazda is bringing these series of cars back instead of doing what other Japanese manufacturers are doing like Mitsubishi, only focusing on hybrid cars and all that bullshit no one likes.
http://www.automobilemag.com/news/mazda-board-directors-formally-approve-rotary-powered-rx-9-2020-report/?sm_id=social_aumoautomobilemaghub_AutomobileMag_20160824_65227196&adbid=10153552925570904&adbpl=fb&adbpr=20553875903

Quote
Motoring expects the unrevealed, unnamed car to carry the “RX-9” badge, contrary to previous reports predicting the return of the RX-7 nameplate. Motoring cites an older report from a Japanese publication, which claims the RX-9 will debut as a prototype in 2017, and in production form in 2019. The car is slated to enter dealer lots in 2020

Again, we have had no official confirmation from Mazda, so the design, power, performance, and specs are completely unknown at this point. However, reports regarding performance and horsepower metrics have slipped out, pegging the output right around 400 hp with a weight around 2,800 lbs.

Power will probably come from a twin-turbocharged 1.6-liter twin-rotor rotary engine, sending power to the rear wheels through either a manual or automatic transmission. Visually, look for cues and components lifted from the mighty Mazda RX-Vision concept from earlier this year.

« on: August 04, 2016, 10:23:46 AM »
I wish Command and Conquer would come back after the complete disaster that was C&C 4. God man that game was so awful and pretty much killed the Command and Conquer franchise. I would love to see this series make a comeback someday with a brand new Tiberian or Red Alert game.

I also wish a developer would pick up the licenses of Army Men and Battle Tanx. Those IPs should still be up for grabs since 3DO has been out of business for nearly a decade. I want a good vehicle focused combat game on this gen and bringing back Battle Tanx would be awesome.

The Flood / So the Kong: Skull Island trailer...
« on: August 02, 2016, 11:04:22 PM »
Nobody seems to be talking about this movie so here's my thoughts on it from what we see in the trailer. I know I'm super late on this but fuck it.

I love the whole Vietnam War era theme the movie is going for. We've had 2 King Kong movies take place in the 1930s already so switching the theme and tone of the franchise is great and welcomed. Seeing the same thing for the 3rd time will get old.

The movie also has an all-star worthy cast to carry the human character side of the movie. The 2005 King Kong movie's actors were... alright I guess. I couldn't take Jack Black seriously throughout that movie however so I'm glad that this new movie is having actors with great track records.

As for King Kong himself, he's enormous and looks like it is the biggest King Kong we'll see just like the director said. They're going to have to make him huge obviously if they want him to take on Godzilla in the upcoming Godzilla vs King Kong movie. It also seems like they're going to ignore the affection that King Kong has towards the main female character of the movie and go for a more destructive, angrier, and more badass Kong than we have ever seen.

Well aside from all of that, I'm pretty excited for this movie mostly because its setting up Godzilla vs King Kong that we won't get until 2020. I can't wait that long god dammit.

The Flood / Curse? Coincidence? Or just bad?
« on: August 02, 2016, 04:41:15 AM »
Now some would say that its silly that the Chicago Cubs are cursed and just a coincidence that they've been a terrible team throughout most of their history, but there are some things that have happened that made people rethink about this.

In the 1969 season, the Cubs were the favorites to win it all. Towards the end of the season, a black cat ran onto the field during a game and went near Chicago's dugout. After that game, the Cubs would go on to lose 20 games out of 26 that were left and lost the division lead to the New York Mets who would go on to win the World Series that year.

This next thing didn't actually involve the Cubs directly, but in the 1986 World Series it was the New York Mets vs the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox were 1 out away from their first championship in 68 years. For a few seconds on the titantron, the prompt "Congratulations to the 1986 World Series Champions, Boston Red Sox!" appeared by mistake. After that, a groundball from a Mets batter went towards the first basemen of the Red Sox, Bill Buckner. The ball went under his glove and went into the outfield, allowing a runner from 2nd base to score and tie the game. Bill Buckner used to play for the Cubs and he was wearing a Cubs batting glove under his catching glove. The Mets would score again on a wild pitch and win the game, forcing a game 7 in which they won and became the champs yet again.

Fast forward to 2003 and the Cubs are in the playoffs again. They've reached the NLCS and were facing the Florida Marlins. In Game 6, the Cubs needed to just get 5 more outs to advance to the World Series to take on the Yankees. A foul ball was hit in left field by a Marlins player and the Cubs's left fielder was going to catch it but a fan leaned in and caught it instead. When this happened, the momentum of the game changed drastically. Next thing that happened was a double-play ball was hit to the shortstop but he fumbled the ball and all the runners were safe. The Marlins would go on to score 8 runs in the inning and win the game 8-3 and tie the series 3 games a piece. I swear, I have never heard a crowd go from super loud to super quiet like this game. I go back and watch that game and there was definitely some weird mojo going on that night and I feel bad for the fan that caught that ball. He got so many death threats and could not show his face in public after what happened. There was even an ESPN 30 for 30 special on this incident.

Now the year is 2008, 100 years after the Cubs's last championship victory, and the Cubs were statistically the best team in baseball in every category basically. They met my Dodgers(The worst team stats-wise out of any playoff team that year) in the playoffs. The Dodgers swept them in the first round and it was glorious to watch. I'll never forget that grand slam from James Loney in game 1.

Last year, the Cubs reach the playoffs again and win against the Cardinals in the first round. The Cubs met the Mets in the NLCS. Daniel Murphy, a player from the Mets, ends up powering his way through Cubs pitchers and set a home-run record by a single player in the postseason. This is where it gets a little freaky. Murphy was the name of the goat that was kicked out of the Cubs's game in 1945 when the owner of the goat placed the curse on the Cubs. The Mets swept the Cubs and advanced to the World Series in which they lost to the Royals. Daniel Murphy's performance in the World Series was horrific and nothing compared to his NLCS performance.

And finally here we are in the 2016 season. In the second game of the season, the Cubs lost one of their players to injury until next year and he played a key part of their 2015 season and postseason. Despite that the Cubs are statistically the best team in baseball, much like the 2008 team. We still have this month and September to see how things will shape up so this will be interesting.

Anyways so yeah, that's the Curse of the Billy Goat. I wondered if any of you actually think the Cubs are cursed or anything or if this is just all shocking coincidences that they've unfortunately gone through.

I just wanted to share this because I love the rich history that baseball has to offer.
