I don't think it's fair to say that about all Russians. They've really never had a lot of control over what happens to them.

What type of bullshit mentality is this? You have the power and freedom to do whatever you want if you have the balls to stand up to tyranny.
They're human beings aren't they? How about they overthrow the government and put a real democracy into place and end the stupid hostility with America.
The current Prime Minister and other government officials were "democratically" elected. The problem is that the system is pretty corrupt and there's nothing the average person can really do about it. It's not that simple.
Putin got something like 120% of the votes in the last election (some of you might point out that's mathematically impossible. It is. They rigged the vote).
It's all really fucked up.
Russians can change their future for the better. There's nothing stopping them but themselves.
It's certainly better today than in the past 100 years at least. Eventually they'll get sick of all the bullshit that's going on. Not right now though. EDIT: Their currency did just collapse BTW. That could be the start of some actual change.
