I thought "kek" came as a result of the fact that the "L" and "K" keys are adjacent to each other on the keyboard, so "kek" became a common typograpical error.
And I honestly thought that the "topkek" cake things being a thing was just a weird coincidence.
nah people just started saying topkek when they found the cake things which led to other things like toplel the etymology of the internet is strange

it is but its origin of use on the internet still lies in World of Warcraft origins people use kek as a substitute for lol like in the WoW origin. The korean use like you're referring to is for "hahaha" which in Korean would be "Kekeke"

Kek literally translates to lol on World of Warcraft. When someone from the Horde side types lol in /say, members of the alliance side see kek instead. Not specific to Orcs.
