They aren't "An assumption."
It clearly is unless you've learned to predict the future.

Quote
"We wish to expose the weakness of America’s centralized power by pushing it to abandon the media psychological war and war by proxy until it fights directly." ISIS wants war. Don't give it to them. Giving into rage is what the organization is striving to draw out of the United States public.
Yeah no shit that's what they want. That's what every single radical group in existence wants, that's what radicalism is. It's still going to spread if we don't directly intervene with ISIS.

Tell me, should we have not intervened with the Nazis?

Bombs are a shitty way of dealing with this.
I concur that's why we need troops on the ground, rather than salting the earth of the people that live there, but you've given indication in this thread, and others, that you're against that too.

And to answer your last question, if I had to save fifty people right now, or 200 people in twenty years, I'd save the 200.
The 50 are a guarantee, the 200 are an assumption. I'd keep that in mind when answering that.

Conventional warfare is inefficient at combating insurgency and plainclothes rebels or guerrilla fighters, as logic would dictate. These are not conventional enemies and operate within your own or your allies borders.

The Caliphate has its own borders. It has its own standing army. It has its own supply lines and convoys that travel beyond it's held territory. It is not an insurgency, it is a rogue state.
innocent people are still held within these borders
That's exactly the fucking point and you would rather us sit around with our thumb up our asses while those people continue to suffer under ISIS.

How can you justify stopping the potential spread of radicalism, which is going to happen regardless of what we do, in return for allowing these people suffer at the hands of ISIS?

So Winy you would trade not intervening with ISIS directly in hopes of suppressing their spread in return for allowing them to continue their atrocities upon the civilian population they hold?

How can you live with that on your conscience?

Except it isn't. The U.S is part of NATO, heavily influential among European politics. That's not isolationism at all. Choosing not to go to war is not the same as shutting out the entire world.
NATO doesn't exist as the world's coalition of police. It exists as a defensive pac against Russia. NATO member states have no intention to equally bare the brunt of any conflict among the partner states unless it comes down to Russian aggression. The partner states have made it quite clear through their actions that they use the US as a crutch and have the full intention of letting us take the brunt of any conflict.

I just find it frankly appalling your preferred solution is to not allow ISIS to "get what they want" while allowing them to commit atrocities upon the civilian population in ISIS captured territory. It's not even "what they want" it's how fucking radicalism works. If you stump out ANY radical group they're simply going to be a martyr to their cause and incite followers after them. That's why you see a dramatic rise in fascism after the destruction of the Nazis but hey I guess we should have left them alone as well to avoid any kind of rise in their ideology. You can't escape that so you might as well fucking deal with it because if they continue to exist, besides inflicting brutality and atrocities upon civilians in the area, they're still going to continue to gain followers. The point being this whole "giving them what they want" excuse is quite childish. I'll take destroying ISIS and saving the people in their territory from their atrocities in return for a possible increase in radical ideology any day. If you prefer the alternative of sitting around and expecting someone else to do the job, expecting NATO to do the job, then I simply hope you can live with the fate of the people in that area and that you sat around and did nothing about it.

Doesn't matter either way, honestly.
It's a coordinated and well supplied attack between three suspects that scanners support and CNN reports as Muslim.

This opens implication of a tie to a middle-east based extremist organization.

If ties are found, this proves that we need to be doing more to combat these factions.
Warmongering doesn't help
And returning to isolationism only hurts everyone.
Who said anything about isolationism
You can ignore the middle east or you can pro-actively cripple terrorist organizations and instill pro-western democracies to aid in diminishing the threat
There are no other viable strategies for placating these people
Not invading the Middle East is not isolationism. We'd be giving them what they want if we invade.

>US invades Syria
>IS uses it as propaganda
>IS grows and spreads
You're not giving me an alternative to my two offerings.
Doing nothing is a viable strategy. The U.S is not the worlds police
That is isolationism, friend.

If you want to live in the fantasy world of that being true so be it but understand it's not. Whether you like it or not that's the role we have in the world as a superpower and there's no getting around it. That's what being a superpower is all about.

Depends on if that guy has a conscience or not.

Under the assumption that he does not then it wouldn't really be that fucked up for him since there would be no one to prosecute him nor socially ostracize him.

meh, i've heard mixed things about it. does great in awards season because the liberals who decide this stuff like what the show tells them

aaron sorkin basically uses jeff daniels' character as an excuse to be preachy
I did see one clip from the show where Jeff Daniels was like on a Q&A at an university or something and starting wrecking people's shit.

Went on about how we need to realize America isn't the greatest country in the world to improve the country. Thought it was pretty good. Also it seemed like he was criticizing liberals in that bit.

In January I get to start working with my cousin who is a lawyer. He's going to let me really learn some of the stuff I would in law school to help me get ahead of the curve and simply just get some valuable experience of what it's actually like to be a lawyer; something he wishes he had before he started law school. It's definitely an opportunity many people don't get so I'm pretty excited.

With Jeff Davis? It's pretty goddamn stellar. It's more social commentary than straight-up entertainment, though.

Talk about George Kennan's policy of containment and how it effected the entirety of Cold War foreign policy, the pros and negatives of it, how it was influenced by his personal emotions towards the Russian people, and how it later aligned the US with human rights violators such as Idi Amin in the name of containment and whether that was right or wrong and if there were any better solutions in dealing with the USSR and the spread of communism.

That being so, no there really aren't any safe drugs. Everything has a side effect and a damaging effect if taken in excess, even your most basic antibiotic.

Antibiotics also produce super bugs that are resistant to them.

I'm not surprised it was a marine who did it
Fuck is that supposed to mean?
Bullet-sponges Marines are generally very unintelligent hence why they're in the Meat-Shield Corp Marines
I don't see what intelligence has to do with somebody lying about their gender.

Also, it's pretty cringy to partake in branch banter when you're not in the military.
Unintelligent people are more likely to resort to violence due to their peanut sized brains hence why "I'm not surprised a Marine did it."

It's not really banter, they really are fucking retards most of the time hence why they act as the bullet sponges of the military.
