As for your question: No, it's not a good idea. But it's one thing to be mugged, and quite another thing to be raped.
The victim of a crime is not at fault. Could they possibly have avoided the situation by taking precautions? Yes. But the BLAME lies on the rapist. He could have just as easily said "Hello" instead of raping her. However, it's naive to think that would happen. You need to expect and be prepared for the worst, and avoid it if you can. But that doesn't mean we should go around victim blaming.
I'm not suggesting that we just say "Hey the rapist should go clean, it was just that girl's fault." It's still 100% the rapist's fault. I'm simply saying that the victim in a scenario like that needs to be be held accountable for not following simple rules of safety.

Say you get into a fight with somebody. Verbal, physical, whatever. Well, he ends up coming over to your house and shoots you in the face. Would you blame yourself for getting into a fight with the dude? Do you consider yourself partly responsible for being shot in the face?
So walking around by yourself at night with no weapon as a woman is a good idea? Ignoring simple safety rules and being ignorant makes you at fault somewhat in a situation like that. It's not like that in every case of rape but in some it is.

 This gimmick has been used in just about every action movie ever made. It's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm not going to dislike a movie just based on the fact that they use this gimmick but come on. At some point isn't some director or producer going to say "Has this been used too much?"
