I was under the impression NMA was mostly anti-Bethesda. Have things changed?
It was a majority of Bethesda bashers but you still had the group of Bethesda fanboys that bashed Interplay. The arguments were widespread.

I don't see why everyone is so flustered about this. It's just like when that outbreak of H1N1 happened. Complete over exaggeration by the media.

Bethesda still turned Fallout into a worthwhile series. People can try to shit all over them if they want, but Fallout 3 was an experiment to see if they could make the series a success, and Obsidian used what Bethesda created and made it better. Not sure why everyone tries to compare the two, when obviously the later one is going to be better since the engine and a lot of the game mechanics were already handed to the team. That does not make Obsidian better, they just already had what they needed in order to create the game.
But Bethesda wouldn't have ever even had the chance to make Fallout 3 had the foundation and the lore of the game already been made. I don't try to compare the two and believe me I see more people that try to bash Interplay and Obsidian than people that bash Bethesda and I've spent a lot of time on the Fallout community sites (NMA, Fallout Wiki). My personal beef with Bethesda is that they consistently try to wipe Interplay's impression on the series. They don't give any kind of credit where credit is due.

Just saying that this is all stuff from Anarchy so it's not like we're really like that. Also satire.
This thread was made well before Anarchy existed.

Nope.
A few of the employees from Interplay created Obsidian after Black Isle Studios failed. A few of the employees being from there does not mean it is the same team, because it is not. That is like saying Black Tusk Studios is basically EPIC Games simply because they have Rod Fergusson, or that 343 is Bungie because they have Frank.
The important people are there IMO. Actually the only person that is really important is Chris Avellone. If he ever leaves Fallout doesn't have a reason to exist.

*cough cough cough*
What specifically appears to be the problem?

They revived the series and made it more worthwhile. Interplay was about to ruin Fallout 3 with Van Buren.
It's more of the principle that they created it and obviously they aren't doing so bad with the series now. Obsidian = Interplay, I hope everyone would know that. But like I said I argued with people enough on this topic back on NMA and Fallout Wiki, I'd rather not do it here too.

That's why I said expand. F:BoS has been stated as non-canon by Bethesda, though some elements don't contradict previous placed out lore. Another game could be made making correct canonical information.
I for one along with many other members of the Fallout community don't agree with Bethesda's deeming of Fallout: Tactics and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel as being non-canon. It's just their way of trying to wipe Interplay's credibility and impression so it seems more like they are the creators of the game. But that's another discussion for another website.

There is PLENTY left to discover and expand on with multiple more setting in America. The Commonwealth/Institute, Midwest BoS, Texas BoS, and future of Legion and NCR, are small examples of what can happen with future games
Texas and the Midwest have been done.

The defense I give to the game being in other countries is when you look throughout the Fallout lore there are so many little hints about what's going on in other countries. There's a wide open door to explore those little hints. I only wish Fallout Extreme hadn't gotten cancelled.
I would give up your hopes of Fallout staying in America forever. Everyone from Todd Howard to Josh Sawyer to Chris Avellone have expressed interest in a Fallout in another country. There's only so much of America to explore and most of it has been by previous games.

I wonder what Noelle has against the idea then.
There is quite a large portion of the fan base that believes it to be sacrilegious of sorts for the game to take place outside of America.

Neither would I. Played every Fallout game except for the first one and I always thought some of the world's other major cities would make a great setting. No offense to any Amerifriends, but most US cities are rather bland in both lay-out and history. A Fallout game set in a ruined city with buildings and setpieces dating back hundreds of years would be amazing, imo.
Yeah I use to be a pretty active editor and community member on the Fallout wiki. This came up in discussion a lot.

Why exactly? I'm assuming it's a lore thing because I can think of a dozen more interesting places.
Actually there is quite a bit of lore of things going on in other countries. I wouldn't be opposed to it taking place in another country.

I've owned the game for awhile now. It's pretty fun consider the price although I haven't played it since this update, it used to be just "Orion: Dino Horde" so I don't know what was up with the name change.
