Quote
After months of passing around the hat, open Android startup Cyanogen said Monday it has closed an $80 million funding round that includes backing from a number of strategic investors.

Among those that took part in the Series C round were Twitter Ventures, Qualcomm Incorporated, Telefónica Ventures, Smartfren Telecom and Rupert Murdoch. The round was led by Premji Invest and included Index Ventures and Access Industries as well as existing investors Benchmark, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures and Tencent Holdings. Notably, it also includes some yet-to-be-announced other strategic investors, Cyanogen said.

The financing effort has been well documented, with Re/code noting earlier this year that several big-name tech companies had been approached, including Amazon and Microsoft. At one point an investment from Microsoft looked likely, sources said. Cyanogen didn’t disclose the valuation, but had been looking to be worth several hundred million dollars, sources said.

“We invested in Cyanogen because we’re big proponents of what they’re doing in opening up Android and supporting global and local ecosystem players,” said Premji Invest technology sector lead Sandesh Patnam in a statement. “Cyanogen is well positioned to become the 3rd leading mobile OS, and we’re excited to back them in growing their business on a global scale.”

Cyanogen has now raised a total of $110 million.

“We’re committed to creating an open computing platform that fundamentally empowers the entire mobile ecosystem from developers to hardware makers, and most importantly, consumers around the world,” Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster said in a statement. “We’re excited to have the backing of an amazingly diverse group of strategic investors who are supporting us in building a truly open Android.”

The new funding will help the company boost its technical and marketing abilities, but the key now is to get two main things: Strong commitment from hardware makers as well as a lineup of partners to truly offer alternatives to Google’s suite of services. That’s critical as Google mandates that those that want to use its services offer all of them. Would-be rivals need to have their own app stores, mapping and an array of other services.

Now this is exciting shit here

I think about this on a lot of my road trips. You don't really ever hear about road trips in other countries especially places like the UK where it just doesn't take very long to get across the whole country.

LONGMONT, Colorado -

A 34-year-old woman was accused of stabbing a pregnant woman in the stomach and removing her fetus, while the expectant mother visited her home to buy baby clothes advertised on Craigslist, Colorado authorities said.

"Officers arrived on scene and could hear a female calling for help inside the home," CBS Denver quotes Longmont police Cmdr. Jeff Satur as saying in a statement. "Officers entered the home and located a female who had been beaten and stabbed in the stomach," Satur said.

The 26-year-old victim was seven months pregnant, Satur told the Daily Times-Call newspaper. She underwent surgery and is expected to recover, but the baby did not survive.

Satur said the suspect arrived at the hospital with the baby and told staff she had suffered a miscarriage.

The pregnant woman was at the home to buy baby clothes that were advertised on Craigslist.

"This is a tragic case for a mother right now," Satur said. "She came by this house. She was attacked, and her baby was removed from her."

Investigators have not released the names of the suspect and the pregnant woman but said they did not know each other.

The suspect was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse-knowingly and recklessly resulting in death.

Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett said his office will consider what formal charges to file.

"The issues involving an unborn child are complicated under Colorado law," he said. "In most circumstances, if a child was not actually born alive, then homicide charges are not possible."

since there's so many people on here that can't even drive, riding in a car will also be acceptable.

my personal record so far is 14 hours or 950 miles straight with only stopping for gas. which i drove by myself.

Everyone will say their dream vehicle is a lambo or Ferrari or what have you but what would be your reasonable dream vehicle. That being one that's approximately <$50k

Mine would be a Subaru Outback or VW Golf GTI

Hey Faggots,

My name is John, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass pictures. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pussy? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than jerking off to pictures on facebook.

Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I was captain of the football team, and starter on my basketball team. What sports do you play, other than "jack off to naked drawn Japanese people"? I also get straight A's, and have a banging hot girlfriend (She just blew me; Shit was SO cash). You are all faggots who should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening.

So I'm going to Colorado and I'm borrowing my friends ID so I can actually buy some. I'm going to be doing a lot of hiking so smoking it is out of the question. So I need edibles help, never really messed with them, anyone know what's good? There's also THC lotions you can absorb through your skin, anyone know if that's effective?

Former head of product at Flickr and Bitly, Matt Rothenberg recently caused an internet hubbub with his Unindexed project. The communal website continuously searched for itself on Google for 22 days, at which point, upon finding itself, spontaneously combusted.

In addition to chasing its own tail on Google, Unindexed provided a platform for visitors to leave comments and encourage one another to spread the word about the website. According to Rothenberg, knowledge of the website was primarily passed on in the physical world via word of mouth.

“Part of the goal with the project was to create a sense of unease with the participants—if they liked it, they could and should share it with others, so that the conversation on the site could grow,” Rothenberg told Motherboard. “But by doing so they were potentially contributing to its demise via indexing, as the more the URL was out there, the faster Google would find it.”

When the website finally found itself on Google, the platform disappeared and this message replaced it:

“HTTP/1.1 410 Gone This web site is no longer here. It was automatically and permanently deleted after being indexed by Google. Prior to its deletion on Tue Feb 24 2015 21:01:14 GMT+0000 (UTC) it was active for 22 days and viewed 346 times. 31 of those visitors had added to the conversation.”

If you are interested in creating a similar self-destructing site, feel free to start with Rothenberg’s open source code.
