I just wanted to run this little survey because I feel like the biggest downfall in the battle of this malicious practice done by corporations like Microsoft and Google is that people are totally okay with them doing it. Also for discussion value just general thoughts on data mining and privacy invasion practices done by software corporations.

I'm just curious if all the staff is even aware that you can move threads without having the "Moved topic link." It really tends to clutter up the boards and the only time its possibly understandable IMO is when a really hot topic gets moved from one board to another (the latest thread over avatars for example). Even then its still unnecessary. So can you please stop?

aka community test environment. Its where they're letting people "beta test" the night maps I think. I don't really know the requirements for it I just know i got invited to download it. But the maps are super fun and well done from what i can tell. They didn't half ass the darkness, I mean it is really really dark which the only map i've gotten to play on thus far is Zavod. Its really fun though, honestly like playing a whole new map. I'll just say EOD bot in the pitch black strikes fear into the hearts of scrubs.

The Flood / i personally commend vegans and vegetarians
« on: August 17, 2015, 12:25:13 PM »
Reading through The World as Will and Representation has really made me feel quite a bit of guilt as of late. Its an objective truth that eating meat is immoral. For those that don't know what Schopenhaur says about vegetarianism I'll sort of summarize it to the best of my ability: "The world as will is the objective matter the universe is made up of and we are but simply an extension of the will as is every other living creature so in that respect we are no different from all animals for we are all the same extension of the will." That's probably a very bad summary (don't rage at me Verb pls) but that's essentially what I took away from the reading put into layman's terms. Though I've come to the conclusion I still can't muster the will power to not eat meat. I suppose I've come to terms that I'm a selfish and immoral being that still eats meat for the sake of convenience more than anything. I hope to one day summon that will power. But if you are a vegan or vegetarian I really commend you.

maybe should have put this in Serious but i felt it was too bloggy/ranty

The Flood / i finally actually watched Game of Thrones
« on: August 11, 2015, 01:11:50 AM »
and jesus fucking christ its terrible. I don't understand how anyone that's actually read the books can watch it. I don't understand how anyone can watch it period. I wasn't aware of JUST how much shit they changed. Its not even minor little details, they changed some of the most important things in the story. Its just glorified fan fiction and a huge insult to the books. Like holy fuck its rage inducing.

Serious / General existential discussion thread
« on: August 07, 2015, 05:39:41 PM »
Just kind of wanted to get a feel of everyone's thought on existence.

Do you follow a particular school of thought i.e. existentialism, nihilism, absurdism?

Any favorite existential books?

Favorite existential philosophers?

Do you have your own opinion on existence that doesn't follow any of the established schools of thought?

Just any discussion related to existence and its meaning or lack there of.

The Flood / True Detective Season 2 isn't THAT bad
« on: August 06, 2015, 08:08:11 PM »
I'm just about finished up with all the episodes that are currently out and I really think its getting much more flak than it deserves. I think everyone's biggest mistake with this is they're going into it expecting they're going to get something as good as season 1. If those are the expectations you set then yeah you're going to be disappointed. I don't care what they had made season 2 it was failed from the start. They set the bar way too high with season 1 and honestly should have just ended it right there. They could have just made a continuation of Rust and Marty and it still would have sucked. However if you go into watching this with no expectations and don't try to hold it to season 1 its honestly not that bad.

The Flood / iTT: jobs
« on: August 02, 2015, 02:12:18 PM »
what jobs have you had?

What was your best job and what was the worst?

Me:

Busboy at a Mexican Restaurant
Worked at a family owned hardware store
Shoe store
Built Barbed-wire fence and cattle corrals
Host at Chili's
Gas station attendant

the worst had to be the mexican restaurant being that it was my first job and i was the only one there that spoke decent english. I always felt like those wetbacks were talking about me

the best was by far the gas station attendant. We only had one person working at a time so i never had to deal with co workers or a boss, it was late at night so i constantly got to see a lot of funny stuff happening, and it was just very chill I played on my phone pretty much the whole time i was there.
