This is partially why labeling yourself is just silly.

There was a black woman who got recorded during a phone call saying she wouldn't hire any white people, and I'm sure the reverse has happened plenty of times as well.
He's talking about public office.

People can hire whoever they like.

Not in public office, which is what I was talking about. The Constitution requires the government to be equal.

Who has been denied public office because of those defunct laws?

I'm sure a lot of people not reported about. There was a black woman who got recorded during a phone call saying she wouldn't hire any white people, and I'm sure the reverse has happened plenty of times as well.

People are still definitely denied because of their neliefs, or race even. Including white people.
At no point did I say otherwise.

The point is that calling it, quite explicitly, "oppressive" is just disgusting. It doesn't even touch oppression.

That's exactly what oppression is, as much of a joke government is.

Ahem:
Quote
Obviously, these laws are trumped by the “No Religious Test Clause” of the United States Constitution, which is found in Article VI, paragraph 3, and states that:

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

People pointing to defunct and overturned laws doesn't make them correct. It makes them idiots.

Way to ignore my point that governments don't care about laws. They still have god on money which is unconstitutional. People are still definitely denied because of their neliefs, or race even. Including white people.

People called "bait" because it was.

Stop being such a crybaby.

Take a piece of your own advice - don't like it here? Leave. You tell us that all the time about the US.

You made a thread saying users will ruin this site and contradict yourself by breaking the rules. Good job. You're one of the users that ruins the site.

Therefore it should stand that your initial allegation of legal barriers for atheists doesn't hold.

Except the fact that it still happens.

As Turkey noted, those laws were made defunct by the Supreme Court.

I think in the mid 60s actually.

You're making the assumption government has ever cared about laws.

If people won't vote for you because you're an atheist, that's their prerogative.

It's not about voting, it's about not being allowed to run at all.
