A lien is a notice attached to your property telling the world that a creditor claims you owe it some money. So when you don't make your payment, the the person who you gave you the lien has the right to keep possession of property until the debt is payed off, that's either if the person pays the amount owed or the bank/whoever sells it and makes money back
