There I was, Assistant Auto Rifleman in Alpha 2. We had just landed on the Island of Thirsk near the town of Thirsk in the dead of winter. The was heavy cloud cover but the air was still. Our objective was the town. Russians had a HQ there and we were tasked with destroying it. Simply enough task...
As we made our way toward the objective, snow crunching under our feet, the squads were alive with nervous laughter and jokes. Someone mentioning that the snow sounds like Styrofoam and others chuckling in agreement. Just then over our PRC-343 we get a report from Alpha 1 that they had spotted contact about 300 meters to our front. My team was not in a position to see the contact so we maneuvered into a firing position. But before we can really do anything, the contact passes by and ignores us. In the end, this may have been a good thing. We had a terrible position. My team and Alpha 3 were deep in defilade. Behind us was a ridge and to retreat would mean climbing a hill under enemy fire.
Comamand moved us closer to the beach. Thirsk is a small island and the town has a beach on it's eastern side. This beach was considerably lower in elevation than the town. Maybe 10 meters? Well as soon as we got close we were spotted and all hell broke loose. PKM and Ak-74 fire was almost incessant. I huddled behind a rock trying my best to call targets for my Auto-rifleman. before I knew it, our Fire team lead was dead. The Auto rifleman took command. That's when the GP-25 gernades started landing. I took a hit from shrapnel. By this time Alpha 1 and 3 were smoking the shit out of the beach giving us some minor concealment. So, I managed to bandage and get the call for a medic out.
This is when it really started turning to shit.
Bravo Squad had been pinned in the forest we were in. They were literally getting ripped apart. Sporadic 7.62x54r bullets from PKMs, almost constant 5.45x39 fire from AK-74s, occasional GP-25 rifle grenades and to our terror, the sound of a 20mm Auto cannon. In time the friendly M-16 and M249 fire slowed and then stopped. Bravo had, while not quite wiped, but decimated beyond combat effectiveness. They moved to link up with us.
Problem was, Bravo brought the hell to us. While we were under fire, they were in a maelstrom of angry slavs. At this time I am hit again and pass out. When I wake up, my team is dead save for the team's Rifleman. There we were, huddled behind a rock under sporadic fire. That's when I heard it. The slow lumbering roar of a tracked vehicle. it was the owner of the autocanon that had fucked up Bravo. Thankfully my Rifleman had an AT4 light anti-tank launcher. He fired and the M136 rocket hit home. The armor, a BMP-3, started cookin off hard. The PKT ammunition belts exploded and the 20mm cannon rounds flew off into all directions. It was like fourth of July. Theeeeen another one rolled up. My Rifleman caught a PKT burst and died.
So there I was, cowered behind a rock, crying, as an angry Russian armored vehicle looked for me. Finally it fucked off looking for other days to ruin. So I scavenged what I could off the rifleman. A bandage and a few extra mags is all I got. Over my squads channel was the call for a general retreat. So I got up and started running back North. Thats when an Angel of mercy came in in the form of an AH-1Z Super Cobra. Halle-fuckin-lujah. It was then promptly ripped apart by 20mm Auto cannon fire.
That's when it felt like something jumped up and bit me in the buttocks. Except this thing crippled me and killed my legs. I had to crawl the rest of the way to the extract. I bandaged and started my journey, passing out two more times before finally passing out on the beach, on a desolate wintery island, with hundreds of Russians crawling all over the place.
ArmA 2, Losing is fun.
I want to read more posts like this, thanks.

This is Schrodinger's thread.
This thread contains the equal possibility of either a weed reference, or a booty reference. Both possibilities exist simultaneously inside the thread until you observe it.

My out of state friend bought me a bunch of really nice concept art-ish Interstellar posters.
They are really nice.

It certainly is a baffling design for something so incredibly massive.
I hope to god that thing never dipped down into atmosphere. It would shear straight in half.

If I remember correctly, he was one of the most unpleasantly fucking retarded gamers I've ever had the misfortune of speaking to.
So good.

I wouldn't be surprised.
That old fool has always tried to leech sympathy off people. He's an irrelevant parasite, nothing more.

I actually quoted the wrong initial quote.
Oh bother. I suppose it doesn't make too big of a difference.

Solonoid was once my brother in arms and we had seen dozens of battles together.
But now he thinks he's cooler than me.

This is literally one of the laziest, most unaware threads I've ever seen. Period.
As usual, I agree with Elegiac. Sometimes.

It is a very pretty color isn't it?
