i just don't know why you would do this, unless you suffer from "PC master race" brainrot to such a degree that the mere thought of playing a game on its intended console makes you want to vomit, or something

best justification i can think of would be a speedrunner who wants to use emulator tools for the sake of practice
You forgot that consoles break and they are expensive, right?
no console old enough to break down can't be found for a reasonable price somewhere—i collect retro games as a hobby, so i should know

granted, i don't know how true this is outside of the US, so you might be at a disadvantage

at the same time, nobody said that any of this was good or fair—if i can't play a game because it's unavailable to me for bullshit reasons, that fucking sucks, but i personally find it very easy to suck it up
One more thing that happens with consoles is that they discontinue and become a rarity, as well as controllers for them. I tried looking for a controller for my taiwanese NES clone after my mom broke it after having a bit of gamer rage (which was new to her), and I couldn't find any, had to fix it myself. On other hand you can still play ROM on a computer. Also ROMs can come in variety of languages, even with translations. I don't have to spend a lot of time to figure out what means what if what I got was cartridge with japanese or (god forbid) chinese game with ROMs, as much charming it could be not understaning contents of some games like Little Nemo The Dream master. At some extreme cases lack of translation makes game quite unplayable, it's the case with some visual novels.

I'm pretty sure you can make a rom from a copy you already own

I used to also dislike web development, but right now I dunno, not enjoying it in particular but I don't know if it's actually much worse from other comp sci fields.

Worst death rate in the world, Britain number one!!!!
At least you have a vaccine.
Do you think Zelensky will sign up for Sputnik V in UA?
I hope not, but I'll never find out really because there is no guarantee that they don't buy it and sell it to us under name of different vaccine. Yeah, but right now they are planning to buy a chinese vaccine that cost 6 times more than one from Oxford and has only 50% effectiveness and buy it not directly but through some company.
Thats even worse. My god.
Ok, we got indian analog of AstraZaneka with a lot of commonly occured side effects and 60ish percent effectiveness, designed for third world countries that have no money to pay. We got only little quantity of it and only people that can vaccine right now are old people and medics. Medics refuse, my grandma refused.

While the possibilities are very exciting - first and foremost for people with disabilities. We can give blind people sight and deaf people hearing.

There is also the spooky aspect of what if you get a virus? Could this malicious software hijack your senses and make you experience pain or something else that can cause damage?
I think what would be more spooky would be horror games. Masochism on another level.
At least in that case you would know that its designed and tested for entertainment. What I'm talking about is someone injecting a virus into a piece of software that leads to unexpected things or worse - hurts the player. Think of it like a patch for Tesla that screws up the auto-pilot feature on purpose or a firmware update for someone's pace-maker that makes you have arrhythmic heart-beats or straight up kills you on purpose.

This biotech stuff has some potential for very dangerous effects.
It will be done in a safe way. People are smart. I don't even know how a virus would survive in living tissue.
I mean, the software layer.

You hook up a device to directly stimulate your brain. So say, someone hacks one of these games or w/e and instead of you experiencing something expected, your brain gets blasted with flashing images or idk.

i hate the way math classes are taught far more than i hate math itself

history bores the ever-loving shit out of me, and to this day represents the biggest lacuna in my education

we had a lot of history nerds on this forum, which has always mystified me
Those who don't know history are bound to repeat it

for whatever reason the 1070ti has not really changed in price for the past 2 years

its not a bad card but it gets blown away by the 30 series

also if you're looking for a used GPU for 1080p stuff use OfferUp and sort by lowest price

found an RX570 + RX580 (8 gb) for $80, which is wicked good for gaming on linux or just average workloads
Thank you
