Even if the heart was hit or partially blown up inside the person, they could still attack you with a weapon for anywhere up to a minute. That is why people practice what is called, Double Tap.. Were you put two rounds in a target nearly instantaneous. The first shot would severely weaken and the second one would more than likely cause shock and then drop.
