so what makes each talisman different, i don't get it

Dammage scaling.  Pretty much it's how From soft tries to ballance early and late game weapons.
The ones intened for early game have higher base dammage but lower scaling and thus diminishing returns as you level the relevant stat (in your case Faith) and so the inverse is true for late game weapons.
I don't remember all the DkS1 talismans but I  know basic talisman  should be perfectly fine untill you hit like 40 or 50 faith.
There's also one talisman that scales with int for no reason sold by T-pose man. Feel free to ignore it.

I was dinking around with a challenge run generator for this game. I gave myself one challenge for every difficulty level, which goes from "casual," "experienced," "veteran," "master," and "masochist."

Naturally, they're supposed to just get stupider and stupider, but funnily enough, the "casual" challenge wound up being the most extreme one I got:
Quote
Weapon Type: Talismans
You may use only this type of weapon in your right hand.

That's just insane enough for me to actually try out, especially since it'll serve as the perfect opportunity for me to try out miracles with a faith-based build, something I otherwise would never have bothered with. So I started a second file where I'm committing to this challenge, and I'm two bosses in. Thank god for Fire Bombs.

That's hardly a "challenge run". It's extra healing and offensive miracles hit like a meteor.

Toby Fox pulled out demo for his next game, so you might try it out.

I've actually never played one of his games.

Why don't you ever play MCC with us anymore

Not much time these days and I haven't installed Halo 3. Once I get lighter on homework I'll try to.

buy tekken 7

I get pissed enough with the games I actually care for, so what makes you think I've got the patience to learn fighting games?

The knockback is still the weird rubber-bandy way it was at E3. Think this indicative of the final state of the game?

I'm pretty biased due to where I live, but I never understood why people are okay with how bad the latency is for dark souls pvp
People commonly say you just have to learn to play with the lag, and I just have to wonder why? Even now that I have useable internet it's still terrible

It's because in a "good" match the latency is at least consistent enough that it can genuinely be played through with some decent semblance of normalcy. You can actually tell what is going on the lag and it becomes a game of who can punish better.

Verbatim is the type of dude to use magic in PvP

That's fine as long as it's not Dark Bead or Pursuers

the online experience is going to be fucking atrocious btw and i'm really excited to prove myself right
Sounds like a fair way to judge something.
Are we pretending now that Dark Souls Remasted's online experience isn't even more of a complete shitshow than the original?
YouTube

Absolutely zero percent of that video had anything to do with the netcode

That's the one with the chain backstabs and flippy boy bullshit right?

That and a whole lot more.

Have ya seen Tranquil Walk of Death?

Started with SC's misandry, ended with the Verbatim Mental Olympics.

Isn't that truly what we all think of when we come here?

SC is a druggie and Verbatim is a closet gay weeaboo.

LOL, why won't Verbatim just admit he likes anime dick already?

The name of my character in Dark Souls 3 is Dark Souls.

Is he the Dark Souls of playable characters though?
Yes, he’s stuck in the second level because he’s too lazy to go fight the boss.

To be fair, early game Dark Souls 3 kinda sucks. It's a slog to get through but it does get better early on.

As much as I hate 3 I think High Wall is alright. I prefer it's one decently made route to the two (technically 3) awful ones SoTFS offers.
-Forrest of Fallen Giants is slow and boring due to the general Dark Souls 2 design philosophies
-Heide's Tower is either just an even slower series of 1v1s that will probably break your weapon before you finish or just gets skipped and cheesed for easy souls.
-You have to jump through hoops to access the well and this route leads to the worst """boss""" in the entire game (not counting the DLC) and then the Gutter.
