So how is it?
Left my 3ds at home. Pretty gutted cos I forgot this was coming out.
Exelent game overall. Metroid is back in full force. While it is a bit more linear than Zero Mission and Super, the sense of exploration and atmosphere is as good as it has ever been. The game is a pretty good challenge as well. I only have a couple of complaints than are mostly minor in the grand scheme of things -The music is great but alot of the Original Metroid 2 remixed soundtracks are played quite low as opposed to the remixes they use from Super Metroid and the Prime Trillogy -There is a certain power up in the game which has some pretty important properties that are not communicated to the player. You will only discover these things by sheer accident or by looking it up, which is strange because the game communicates what how it wants you to play incredibly well, except for this one thing. I'd probably score the game an 8 or a 9

Pretty sure i'm close to the endgame at this point, and it's an utterly brilliant game. It very clearly distinguishes itself from the other 2D Metroid titles while still retaining the core of what makes it Metroid. Spoiler ..which is impressive given how structurally linear it is

Eureka Seven. Once you get past the bullshit and filler it's amazing. The breakdown is still most impressive I've seen for eastern media.
I watched it again recently, I didn't find it as impressive as the first time I did.

don't forget the best part. Anyway I'm having trouble recomending stuff to OP, there's some good legitamately good stuff I cant recomend based on his restrictions, in fact Iron Blooded Orphans may be too much, I think Gundam Unicorn would be a better recommendation instead.
