343i talked a bit about the tier of the weapons in the game. In Halo 5, the DMR will be better than the BR.
That's not necessarily a good thing. The DMR sucked in Reach and 4 because the extra zoom and faster rate of fire hindered map movement.

I don't even know what I liked about Halo 2 more than the others.

Halo 1 was just a clunky, terrible, unbalanced piece of trash.
Halo 3, to me, felt like Halo 2, but... slower? And... bloomier.

Halo 2 felt faster. Am I wrong?

Like, it wasn't as satisfying to get kills in Halo 3.
Bungie screwed up Halo 3 by reducing the field of view and movement speed while also introducing spread onto their horrible netcode.

Your argument seems to be "Valve was pressured into this decision by tumblr/SJWs, hence it's wrong" coupled with "there's nothing wrong with the game and Valve should release it."

A) If the first argument is correctly translated, defend your premise. How do you know Valve was "pressured into this decision" instead of making it on their own? Was there a statement or something saying "due to popular demand" that I'm missing?

Just a hunch and then I just argued under the assumption as if it was true.

An analogy for why I could think that is if a bully says to a kid "come to school tomorrow and I'll kick your ass" and the kid goes home and posts on facebook "hey guys I'm not coming to school tomorrow" it's a good hunch you know why.

Quote
B) If the second argument is correct, why would you say this?

Quote
Yep and if it was under their own decision I'm fine with it.

There could be nothing wrong with the game, but it's still their choice not to release it.

Quote
It's not gamers fault the media is ignorant.  So far no credible studies have been able to link violent games with causing real life violence.  Not releasing it for fear of shame only boasts their position.

Quote
Uh, okay? What's your argument here? You're dodging the question.

Will this or will this not stir negative attention to the industry?
I don't have a magic ball to see how much it will stir.  Likely just as much as GTA, but that's irrelevant.  I don't care about ignorant people's opinion's of my hobbies.  Should their negative attention hold merit if it's under false pretense and out of ignorance?  I sure don't think so.

back to arguing about why a private corporation ltierally has every right to not support a game with zero artistic merit

I'm not arguing that they don't have that right.  I'm arguing a private corporation shouldn't be threatened for selling a product that has no negative effect on anyone.

Quote
You seriously think that releasing this game will not have any negative effects on how the industry is viewed by people not familiar with it [aka the mainstream press]?

It's not gamers fault the media is ignorant.  So far no credible studies have been able to link violent games with causing real life violence.  Not releasing it for fear of shame only boasts their position.

Quote
The initial reason it was taken down was bloggers and certain media outlets were going to shame them for simply releasing it on their market, with the usual drivel about them supporting violence and patriarchy yada yada yada.

Quote
Or how about Valve deciding that the product is simply one not worth distributing?
If that was their personal decision I wouldn't be against it.

You're correct, and it can be really interesting narrative-wise when a character is evil and you're basically forced to go along with evil acts, a la GTA.

It seems like the only reason you support GabeN's decision is because it spites Tumblr and other SJW-bullshit complaints. Like I said, DC is welcome to complete the game and release it, I just find it disagreeable that Valve would choose to endorse a game like Hatred.
It wasn't their criticism of the game, it was the "if you put this game on your market we'll tag you in with what ever's wrong with the game (violence, misogyny, etc).  They are trying to shame them into a decision by guilt tripping them, making them out to be bad people for offering a violent game on their market.

In a capitalist economy, companies have every right to deny support for whatever they choose.

You're absolutely out of your mind if you think this game does any good for the industry
Most games aren't made to be build up an image of the industry, they are meant for fun and entertainment.

which is already lambasted as hyper-violent and crime-inducing; refusing to greenlight this was a good step towards showing that gamers aren't mindless violence junkies after all.
Which there is no proof of it doing and is just special interest groups talking out their ass.

Again, it isn't Valve's responsibility to main a proper image of gamers.

Okay mate.
There's no objective to CoD's MP besides killing other people. There's no objective to Hatred besides killing people.
I distinctly remember there being several other objectives, like planting/disarming bombs and capturing objectives.
So as long as they tack on additional modes to the one strictly for killing each other it's okay?

Quote
In addition, the multiplayer is set up as a war between the two factions from the campaign. Not to mention that both sides are organized, uniformed soldiers with military training and weapons, willingly engaging each other, whereas Hatred is some trenchcoat-wearing motherfucker shooting up public places because he hates them.

And they are both video games so I don't see why the characters motives have to be morally sound.  Video games are virtual play grounds and shouldn't be limited to only guys with good intentions.

Quote
you're just refusing to acknowledge them because 'muh censorship' nonsense.
Because "stop liking what I don't like" and ''muh artistic narratives!" is so much better.

Quote
This isn't about censorship, it's about Valve not endorsing a game that conflicts with common decency.
Actually, it kinda is.  Certain media groups were threatening to slam Valve if they didn't do as they say.  I'm glad Valve has some balls to not be easily intimidated by them and to let the game flop on it's own.

Quote
I'm talking about Steam standing up for a standard of quality requisite to being greenlit
Which isn't what they clearly want to do, regardless of how hard the media tries to bully them into it.

Quote
then backing down because of keyboard warriors bitching about censorship.
What a shame they couldn't be bullied to take it down by the tumblr wenches and media prudes.  What a shame the vocal minority didn't have more push.

Just wondering if you guys are legitimately retarded because you can't distinguish between Hatred and any other shooter.
The sole purpose of CoD's MP is to kill people, same with BF and Halo's MP.
REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM REMOVE THEM!!!

Like I asked the other gentlemen: are you retarded? If you are, I sincerely apologize. That explains your severe inability to use critical thinking to recognize a difference between CoD and Hatred. The fact that you conflate enemy soldiers fighting each other (not the MP is canon) with slaughtering civilians for fun, literally the entire point of the game, makes a lot more sense knowing that you are, in fact, mentally handicapped and not capable of higher reasoning. I'm not in favor of removing it because it upsets people; why would that matter? I'm in favor of Valve having some balls and refusing to greenlight a game that has zero artistic or narrative value.
Multiplayer is strictly killing for the sake of killing, why you make an exception for it over campaign idk.
You're opinion on artistic value is irrelevant.  For one, you and the interest groups against the game aren't the supreme authority on what games can and can't be made.  Two, better ban mobile games like flappy bird and angry birds as they don't have anymore artistic or narrative value than this game.

Deciding not to host a disgusting game about murdering people just for the sake of murdering them was a bold statement, and I fully supported it.
That's pretty much the point to every shooter multiplayer so we might as well ban those too right?  Killing enemy players just for the heck of it.

Quote
GabeN backing down and apologizing doesn't make him the champion of free speech, it just makes him seem like a little bitch that is afraid of upsetting devs. This game is bad for the industry.
The alternative is him being a bigger bitch to appease people who don't even play games and want to ban violent games that weren't even targeted to them or for their agenda.

"Censorship"

There is nothing in the definition of censorship that suggest it only applies to govts.
Steam is censoring it from their software. They have that right. I'm not debating that. I'm debating whether its the right thing to do.
I think the game very clearly crossed the line of what's acceptable to put in a game. Something in the vein of Manhunt or Super Columbine Massacre RPG. It would be an extremely poor business decision on Valve's part to sell the game on Steam.

Yeah people are totally going to cut business with Valve/Steam because one shitty edgy game is on the market for the few who want it.  I can almost guarantee a majority of the people complaining are tumblr blogging retards.  If you don't play the game it literally has no effect on you.
it COMPLETELY effects EVERYONE in the gaming industry, if we let terrible games like this slide by, what does that say about the industry as a whole? if valve keeps this mass murder sim on  greenlight it only proves the point of Jack Thompson and soccer moms trying to censor the industry as a whole.

So guilty by association?  That's total BS.  A violent game doesn't make every gamer/developer a racist, sexist, homophobic, rapist, serial killer in the making.

Fuck Jack Thompson and soccer mom's, they aren't in the right.  There is not one credible study that suggests playing violent video games makes people violent.

To be fair that was probably a shitty host.

When playing H2C or CE on a good host, the games are easily the best.
The games run on dedicated servers.

*Some do
They all do.
It's only P2P if there's connectivity problems with the dedicated servers.

Pretty sure it says "connecting to dedicated servers" at the bottom of the screen in a box before the match starts if it is, unless they removed it in a patch.  I almost never see it.

Y'know, it's not that Yamcha, Krillin, and Tien were weak, it's just that every bad guy after the saiyans was more badass than they could conceivably fight.

Too bad Goku or King Kai didn't teach them Kaioken or an equivalent so they could be semi relevant.

It's fine.

Sure it is when you blindly accept anything 343 does.
Yes. I absolutely do that.
If that was the case, I'd like custom loadouts and ordnance in Halo 4.
I'd also like Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike too.
Oooh, let's not forget how I'd absolutely love how Spartan Ops is a shitty FF replacement that's you just going through the same maps and listening to Palmer repeat the word "eggheads" over and over whilst having Promethean Knight Battlewagons gang rape you.

Just because I'm not jumping on the hate-wagon over every little thing they do doesn't mean I blindly accept everything they pull out of their asses.

Well when they mess up so many little things it begins to add up.
