You couldn't spawn with abilities to help you win in the Halo trilogy. Aside from covenant vehicles in CE, you couldn't shoot a vehicle with one bullet from any gun and kill it when the driver had full health. Jet pack broke map control, armor lock was a get outta jail free card. Sprint lead to stretched maps, cat mouse gameplay, more double melee, etc. Invis ability lead to camping on outskirts of map with sniper/dmr to pick people off. No power ups on map. Halo 4 allowed you to spawn with a one hit kill weapon and anti-vehicle weapons/grenades, lol perks, kill cams, allowed you to call in power weapons to your feet, etc.

So was Unity and MCC but they still had parts that were broken
For Halo 4 file share and theater were broken for a long time before 343i fixed it. And 343i had tons of problems with users having to pay for dlc that was included in the season pass.
I don't think I've ever seen a good kill cam in Halo 4 either. Precision editing not being in forge was said to have been a glitch/bug and not that they forgot it.

Halo pre Reach was never cat and mouse.
It is to an extent, certainly a lot more so than any other game. Halo can be a little chesslike, most of the difficulty is in positioning and movement rather than actually firing your weapon
I disagree, but say let's just pretend you're right. Increased mobility provided by sprint and thruster only exacerbate this then because now the flee-er can move faster than the attacker since the attacker has to lower their weapon to keep up with the fleeing person.
