The Flood / Re: Game of Thrones Episode 3
« on: July 30, 2017, 10:59:16 PM »
Problem with time in this show is that it is not discussed how it occurs. Every event is taking place at different times during the year some events months before others.
My only problem with this explanation is that there's no evidence of time passing within the show. If Varys leaves Meereen to go to Dorne and then come back before Dany sails for Dragonstone, are we supposed to believe that they all sat around in Meereen doing nothing for at least several months to a year?

Actually in real life this happens over long periods of time. Like really long. I mean look at the campaign of the Crusade how many months and years past between battles and different campaigns.

Months pass and lots of things occur. I mean Europa Universalist shows it, takes a year or two to sometimes win a war and that is a big cheat. Now imagine crusader Kings 2 and Europa mixed together and dealing with all those things. It gets really hard.

Mobilizing troops takes ages, months and years. And naval expedition of armies are even longer. I mean Byzantium nearly fell during the early age of Islam but a fleet that was sent to resupply them after their supply lines were damaged due to weather, was sank by a third party leaving the Muslim forces to end their siege.

The first Crusade took a proper year or more before it took off. The peasents crusade or the children crusade not sure which it was went immediately but was trounced as it was not prepared for battle, and that one spent months pillaging Christian lands before landing on Anatolia.

Other than my dick pic, not sure how much more cringe I can get.

I really don't do well in photos plus out of the thousand photos I have taken, I can count how many I am in.

Let's see if you can spot me in the others.

how do you even pronounce that
Watch episode one of season 3 of Rick and Morty.
no thanks

the more popular this show gets, the less inclined i am to watch it

No need to, it kind of just gained traction for being this acid trip of a show. Plus making points on existential dread. It is one of the few good shows that seems different from every other show right now.

But here is a clip for how it was pronounced.

Actually sushi is considered Japanese is it not. The California roll is American.

Pizza was also invented in US but has been considered Italian for along time. Not sure if it is because italians are the ones who created it in America.

Tacos are considered American for some reason even if all the images try to show Mexican imagery.

Also Boston Pizza is Canadian and the Hawaiian Pizza is Canadian.
my point stands—america's culture is based around the appropriation of other cultures (which isn't necessarily bad)

Well that is both Canada and America, and UK.

I think France might also have that with their previous colonial nation's, though Germany may start appropriating cultures from middle East with their Turkish population and migrant/refugee population. But these nation's practice it to a way lesser degree.

So yeah it kind of is an Anglosphere thing in general.

I got food poisoning from taco bell
never had food poisoning in my life
I've gotten it twice; once from KFC, and now from Taco Bell. It's like the flu, but you have something to blame.
i remember that thread
yeah KFC is literally the most disgusting "restaurant" in the world
That depends on location. I noticed in Asia and poor countries, fast food chains are like decent restaurant with great service and the food is better. They also look like high class restaurant. Kind of funny the different image from Canada and Pakistan.
YouTube

pretty cool video discussing the downfall of KFC

see, i'm not alone in thinking it used to be quality, as far as fast-food goes
It has died in the West but not in the East, for some reason it is doing well. Also the burgers are spicier.

On another note one of my favorite Burger from McDonald is only available in Singapore that I know off, called McSpicy burger. It is the best Burger from McDonald I have had and no other burger they make comes close to it.

It is like how Blackberry lost all it's market share everywhere yet it grew in Indonesia.

DD is drinking, looks like someone is going to be having a sleepover. Or paying good money for an Uber.

Honestly best post on this board all day.

Somehow we got home safely.
You did not drive did you? Please tell me drunk driving was not involved.

Unfortunately yes. He wasn't sloppy drunk, and he wasn't swerving, but it was really scary. We were planning on taking an uber home, but he didn't wanna leave his car.

Dumb. Idiots.

I think I used to be okay with that, but one of my friend got angry at me and from that day onwards I have made it a zero tolerance policy. If you want to drive, go drive but I will walk by myself if need be.

Not sure why I became a hard ass, but I think it just but it is how I roll even if people call me a party poopers.

No you are not. The concept was created by Jung a professional but he even knew that it was wrong because everyone is an exception to the rule.

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying I'm an INFJ, I'm saying I happen to be an intuitive/introverted/feeling/judgmental person. I'm not talking about the test at all.

And that is based on the test. These personality traits are based on the test and you may be this, but you also have other characteristics that contrast these personalities. Remember these labels are million dollar money making scheme for the people involved. Studies have proven your personality is not related to this.

Just like how the term millennials was a money making scheme for a company who coined the term and now sell their services to everyone. Reality is you may be introverted but you also have extrovert personalities. And the percentage scale is lines which does not truly represent people.

It is like trying to figure out someone political beliefs, linear system of conservative and liberal does not work and neither does a grid, not even a globe. Same way you way more complicated than four letters.

Damn. See my edit.
Caught it late. At least you are able to know you are more complicated than that.

Not true, it is actually a meaningless test. I mean you could get a better result of your personality by using Astrology and saying this is your character traits based on your start sign.

I don't think astrology is meaningless, either. I don't believe that where the stars were placed on the date of your birth has anything to do with your personality, but the way our society grooms our children's timetables (the new year being in January, school starting in September, grouping kids together based on age, etc.) has a lot more to do with it. Call it confirmation bias, I don't care.

That being said these things are more for fun than anything else. I'm technically an ares, but you wouldn't know it from talking with me. Same with the Briggs test.

Which I say it is fun, but never call yourself that as it just creates a bias in which you start making decisions based on those made up personality, when in reality people are more complicated. People can be introverted with extrovert qualtities and vice versa. But as people always end up wanting to shoe hole themselves into.these boxes I prefer if people just ignore them.

I can't see any reason to do that. These tests aren't helping you fit into a specific mold, they're just what you are. I am introverted, intuintive, feeling and judgmental.

No you are not. The concept was created by Jung a professional but he even knew that it was wrong because everyone is an exception to the rule.

This test was created by a bunch of family of amatuers with no formal education on psychology. It is a bullshit test which has no meaning. And you are deluding yourself in following it.

Where is Mr. Psychologist when you need him.

Here is a YouTube vid to explain it if the articles did not help.

Personal bias does not give true results. Also most of these personality tests are usually kind of iffy. If you want a true answer go to a psychologist, cause no one is truly boxed into one category and are a mix and match of a bunch.

It's like saying I am scorpio so this is what I am like or I am a virgo and this what I like. It's bullshit and is not going to help you.

Also introvert are not all quiet, some introvert are really expressive and really put themselves out there. Same as extroverts, some people who are extroverts may look and be considered introvert.

Who are you referring to with this comment?

I am referring to anyone who tries to validate who they are with these tests. Or try to force themselves to believe they are some special type of person with this detail, when in reality they are likely wrong.

These tests are great and all for people who study this, but for the layman they are really not going to help as you need a psychiatrist to actually understand you, and even there there is some issue. And these categories are stupid. Plus these tests are just basic bullshit.

I don't think there are many idiot like that on our site.

Briggs isn't 100% accurate because of bias and human perception but in theory it's spot-on.

Basically it has been marketed really well. But it is a pile of hogwash. Basically a way for guy ip top to try to figure out how to make the workplace more productive with stupid initiatives. Like he is an ENT(whatever the fuck you are) so we should give him space or maybe include him in more conversation and he may be more productive. When in reality a raise would make that person more productive.

Well after coming back, it was destroyed for reasons. And then never bought one since. Been two months since I last had a PC. Just been using my phone.

How was it living life without a computer?

I had recently bought an iPhone so it was ok for a while but eventually I needed a computer. But these days you can do almost everything on a smartphone.

Same situation it seems, going back to uni, need one before I get there, likely get one from the college my dad teaches at for cheap.
