The Flood / K-Pop
« on: December 11, 2014, 09:55:19 PM »
So i thought about how Flood would react to K-PoP, considering they hate anything from East Asia, as well as all haters of the Pop industry i wondered how they would react.

So let us see how do rate K-Pop, and what do you think of it?

Kill it with fire, or become a die hard fan and join the cult following?

Well, everyone has those moments where they have their life to take care off. At least i hope personal life is going good, i mean you seem to still have a decent relationship with your girlfriend.

Honestly though school and grades will require some work, though college can be as Rocket say a bummer, it is quite an important time and could make you into a better person. Consider it the final hurdle before real life, get all the experience you can get in College but as you are in your senior year try to make sure you can get the study habits and the goal plus drive to steer you to what you want.

Anyway hope to see you soon.

And how can we not miss you our resident car expert.

TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada's Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that police may search a suspect's cellphone without a warrant under specific conditions that safeguard the broader constitutional right to privacy.

The 4-3 decision mirrored the deep divisions of lower courts in both Canada and the United States as they try to balance privacy rights in a digital age with law enforcement's need to protect evidence.

The Ottawa-based court said that limited searches were lawful in some circumstances. These include that the arrest itself is lawful; the search is deemed necessary to locate and preserve evidence or catch other suspects, protect the police, the suspect or the public; and police take detailed notes on how they examine the device.

"To summarize, police officers will not be justified in searching a cell phone or similar device incidental to every arrest," Judge Thomas Cromwell wrote on behalf of the majority.

"The weighty privacy interest that an arrested person has in a personal digital device will outweigh the state interest in performing a warrantless search incident to arrest, except in exigent circumstances," the majority opinion said.

In practice, this will mean only recently sent or drafted emails, texts, photos and the call log will typically be available, the court said.

The court's dissenting voices said the decision would result in a breach of privacy and tend to "bring the administration of justice into disrepute."

They noted that other personal devices such as tablets, smart watches, laptop computers and smart glasses would likely be subject to the same treatment.

"Unwarranted searches undermine the public's confidence that personal communications, ideas and beliefs will be protected on their digital devices," they wrote.

The decision was seen by some as a step back for privacy rights, which Canadian and U.S. courts have upheld in most recent cases.

"I have to say I'm surprised given the court's very strong recent privacy record ... I'm surprised that a divided court came out permitting some warrantless searches of cell phones," University of Ottawa law professor Michael Geist said.

"The somewhat complicated conditions that the majority wants to set up aren't really a substitute for a warrant, which offers up a much clearer, more practical approach to providing privacy protection," he added.

In the specific case argued by the court, Kevin Fearon was arrested after an armed robbery. His phone, which was not password protected, was searched and found to contain a picture of the handgun used in the robbery and a draft text message that said "We did it".
So added some more info about the case at the bottom. If you are interested you can read them up and maybe add them to your OP.

The brief case

Quote
So as the story goes two guys rob a jewelry store with guns. They load all of the jewelry into their trunk and drive off. So they are caught later by police who are out looking for jewelry thieves. The police officer looks at the suspects phone and notices that there is a picture of a hand gun and a text message proclaiming that they've stolen the jewelry.
So they use this information to get a warrant and they find the hand gun is in the impounded car. The two are brought up for charges of theft with a gun.
Now here's the question, do these two thieves get to get away with it? There is more than sufficient evidence for them to be convicted. However the starting point for that evidence was from a cell phone that clearly shows guilt.
The supreme court argued that yes, they should go to jail as searching a suspect for evidence is part of regular police work and that limiting it would also limit their ability to find evidence.
In this case searching the cell phone has to be limited to specifically what the officer is looking for. If for example he found a picture of this guy sitting next to a kilo of weed, he would be set free.

Some informative comments that could help you understand this more.

From the decision itself:
[53] I pause here for a moment to note that some courts have suggested that the protection s. 8 affords to individuals in the context of cell phone searches varies depending on whether an individual’s phone is password-protected: I would not give this factor very much weight in assessing either an individual’s subjective expectation of privacy or whether that expectation is reasonable. An individual’s decision not to password protect his or her cell phone does not indicate any sort of abandonment of the significant privacy interests one generally will have in the contents of the phone
Edit: removed lower court decision.

The above is the supreme court decision.

Dunno the hate but the internet has always had alot of anime lovers on it. Though i believe i am more of lover of good story telling which is why i consider most anime shit and a couple good and those are the one's i read/watch.
The volume of anime telling good stories or just retaining solidity in presentation and message number more than a few.
Well in relative to the amount of shit that is produced yeah there are few.

Decent amount but there is a huge mass of shit that is produced as well.

I am scared to see cute things, as it makes me want to grab someone and hug them and be all cute with them, but that would be weird if it was with someone i do not have an intimate relationship with. So i sit here all alone wishing i had something or someone to cuddle with.

Somehow, I feel like this is going to have a backlash greater than that of the Ferguson decision.
Lol

On topic though i would have to say last time i ate there my friend took me there after studies and i kind of entered a place strange to me. Homeless floor flooded and the store looking like shit. Cops came in for a bit to take someone out and i just ate my stuff and got out afterwards. Not planning to go there again. Well that location to be exact.

What's homestuck?
Homestuck is the story of people playing a game that affects reality. It's one of the hardest things to define because it's very large and complex. I guess you could call this explanation a gross oversimplification :\
You have piqued my curiosity.
I will now look into it after my exams.

Madness my friend madness
That is what we humans are
Our looting, our killing, our raping, our sins
This is what defines our species till now
Unpredictable, irrational and always in denial
We live our lives leaving death in our wake
Still we learn and we see our sins
We promise, never again will we commit such a sin,
Only to repeat this cycle again.

I really need to find something to do.

Namely one where you find yourself under the authority of someone who isn't fit to wield it. It may have been a teacher who wasn't fit to teach, or a bad cop, or even a lazy doctor. It's a situation that I'm quite unaccustomed to, but not unacquainted with. How did you approach the situation? I don't take shit from anyone, so when it arises I end up taking that person down. Whether the solution is quick, or drawn out, it's definitely worth pursuing.
Cannot remember if i ever have. Usually most groups i am in usually work out.

Serious / Battle for Deir Ezzor
« on: December 09, 2014, 01:51:43 PM »
Megathread

So it seems after setbacks in Kobane with the US supporting the Kurdish YPG forces and the Iraqi army now reversing most of their success in Iraq, ISIS turned to one of the last and most isolated airbase in the east of Syria.

Deir Ezzor the city that houses one of the last airbases in eastern Syria is of importance for the Syrian army after their loss in Taqba, and now with ISIS making a huge assault after weeks of loosing ground slowly ISIS made a strong push to the airport only to be repelled back. Although area was gained it was not without massive casualties from over 60+ killed in one onslaught.

This airport unlike the one in Taqba is manned by Syrian Republican Guard and not conscripts and is now quite a threat to the ISIS forces with it's airstrikes. So anyway just thought to share this, and wondered if people wanted to discuss about this battle front.
