If Saddam Hussein stayed in power, Iraq would have exploded worse than Syria right now. So I'm actually somewhat grateful for the US/UK for ending Saddam Hussein before Iraq could have been totally destroyed by him.
This.

Obviously we can't know for sure what might have gone down had he lived and ruled until natural death, but it would not be good.

I imagine it would be somewhat like what went down in the Balkans after Tito croaked, probably worse.
I kind of agree and disagree as this is well based on hypothethical decisions.

It'd probably happen in a satellite/anti-satellite context. Not gonna be starships and space battles as well.

Which does give the interesting thought of Navy SEAL or Special Forces raids on massive Chinese/Russian military space stations. The thought of that would be pure awesome.
Actually a space task force would require a whole new group seperate from Seals or special forces mainly due to the man hours required to train and how you cannot fight in both space and earth. Like two different environment where adapting takes too long.

Personally raiding is also something that would be kind of costly. For me it would be more EMP based or targeted missile based.
I dunno. I'm just throwing out thoughts. Awesome thoughts. Not that it would seriously be a practical thing though. It would be missile/EMP based...

Actually i never really noticed this but quite a number of weapons are GPS based, imagine if GPS disappears how can a number of important long rage weapons be used. Would require all the troops to carry a calculator with them to solve this problem.

I know Meta might hate this but many people opposing the fall of Assads regime believe it would be a better choice as unlike Iraq pure chaos will just enable more extremist groups like those in Iraq to occur.

Also the reason to go to Iraq was definitely not due to Saddam, hell we supported him in invading Iran, and when Kuwait happened we pushed and told the Kurds we had their backs if they rebelled. Well let us see what that got them. Let me see a bunch of them getting gassed and those who pushed them on did not hold their side of the bargain. Why they went to Iraq is beyond me.

So first this war was based not on any real reason, and second it had no goal that was positive if instead made more negatives unless you were in the military industry and were to sell weapons.

Why they went in because of a lie is beyond me, why did they stop supporting him all of a sudden for no reason i do not know why. But the reason they stopped supporting him was definitely not because he was an evil dictator.
We totally gotta add eachother on Skype or something...

Honestly another Con is that America cannot get involved in the world as it could before. It has had to retreat a bit and the Russians have shown they can swing their dick around alot more than before and will face less repercussion.

Serious / The Role Space has in Modern Militaries
« on: March 30, 2015, 09:49:54 PM »
Hi,

So have not been posting on here much but decided to make a post about how important is Space to the Military?

Recently a Chinese experiment on "anti-missile" technology ended up with them destroying a satellite [1]. So from this you already know where i am going. The US and the world keeps talking about how the future wars will be fought online, but what about the domain of Space. The US and the Russians have for the most part dominated this sector by placing up their satellites up for both reconnaissance and operation control. Some of us even take for granted in the public the role they play both in mobile and entertainments side.

But what could the implications of a future where satellites start to become targets in the larger scheme of things. After all one of the ways to defeat an enemy is to render it unable to effectively communicate with each other and leave it in chaotic disarray with no direction. How important then is the satellite network to a modern information based military and could the loss of them cause major impact to the systems that these armed forces rely on?

Well Bohemian Rhapsody was good. As well as other songs like fear of the dark. Or even something from radiohead or muse.

Possibly. If a sudden explosion in tech occurs in one of the fields. It could happen anytime.

I actually just listened to an NPR discussion about him this morning. Seems like an accomplished businessman and leader, though there were quite a few civil rights violations when he first took over.
Got a link to that discussion?

You need to find a real purpose and pursue it. Get out of the same old place.
This is basically it. Unless you find a goal you will feel like an empty shell of yourself.
Get your shit together find a purpose and pursue it. I know this sounds like stupid but honestly look at those close to you, even if you end it those close to you will feel the most pain. It may seem like that now they do not care but trust me they will change tune if they did know. You also may want to check if you have depression it may need to be taken care of.

Serious / Lee Kuan Yew - The late Prime Minister of Singapore
« on: March 23, 2015, 06:57:14 PM »
Decided to discuss about a man who was responsible of ushering an unknown country from a third world status to one of the leading economic powers in the world. As i was raised in Singapore for the first decade of my life i was raised knowing the name Lee Kuan Yew, the prime minister of the nation of Singapore.

His rule was one of great change where he led a nation that had been kicked out of the Malaysian group and out into the open. Lee, was responsible for taking control of the nation setting up a system and leading a nation as it's benevolent dictator. Most people may not know but Singapore although has election, like the Chinese system those you vote for is based on the government. Lee won many times in a row as Prime Minister and led an authoritarian government.

The government has also place stringent laws and usually runs itself like a business. Where the Prime Minister and President are paid nearly the same as a CEO of the same position. The system is total opposite of the Western Democratic system and has been responsible for the nations progress. Especially as the leader whose hand it was in was someone everyone could trust.

Anyway right now i am just going on a rant, but i wanted to ask, has anyone ever considered checking up the Singaporean story and governing system?

And honestly this is mainly a thread to Lee Kuan Yew who died yesterday.

Singapore
Lee Kuan Yew

Umm, is he an test subject cause it is widely known that long exposure to zero gravity environment is detrimental to a persons health.

Which is why they spend a few hours each day exercising the fuck out of their bodies while up in the space station. Do you even NASA?

YouTube

It still does not change the fact there are changes that occur to your body. Hell ask any astronaut and it takes them months before their body 1) gets back into shape, 2) they regain their balance.
