Serious / Re: Okay, so lets put this out there, women attacking men.
« on: June 10, 2015, 01:14:15 PM »

Now, this is open for discussion and I'd like to make it a point, if a women hits a man, well if she straight out attacks him, draws blood and all is it not okay for men to fight back? We're going for equality here people. I think we're all fairly smart here so I think we all know the right answer, hitting a women is wrong, most accounts, but damn if it ain't already provoked by physical violence then I wouldnt say it's okay, but expected.

I'll give you some examples, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeXLg7uOH9U
Now something I've heard of a lot feminists is that men shouldnt hit women, period.....so.....they have to stand there and actually take the assault, women aren't exactly weak things, a punch is a punch and it can still bloody hurt. Why am I bringing this up? Just saw a few things over the net, Exo  hasn't started anything (not that I'd ever hit her, I know a good bear hug would deal with her)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2ntfQ3u2Mo
Lets throw some shameful feminism into the mix *cringe*

See, I ain't against feminists, but I feel defensive on how offensive they are, and ideals some women actually have, that they can do whatever they want.....and even if she started....the man will still probably go to jail because "equality"

So this is muddy fucking water here, lets discuss.

Unlimited political cash would give rank-and-file conservative activists greater sway in picking their representatives, including the president, White House hopeful Ted Cruz told New Hampshire voters on Sunday.

Cruz, a first-term senator who represents Texas, said deep-pocketed donors should have the same rights to write giant campaign checks as voters have to put signs in their front yards. Both, Cruz said, were an example of political speech, and he added that "money absolutely can be speech."

"I believe everyone here has a right to speak out on politics as effectively as possible," Cruz said told a voter who asked him about the role of the super-rich in politics.

...

After the session, one activist gave Cruz a blank check and told him to write it for whatever amount he needed.

Cruz, mindful that accepting the check would trigger his official entrance to the Republican primary, declined but told an aide to follow up with the man after a campaign is official.

"Stay tuned," he said.

...

Cruz, a tea-party favorite, is expecting to formally join a crowded field of presidential hopefuls in the coming weeks. In the meantime, he has been courting party activists and donors to help him counter deep-pocketed rivals such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Asked about the outsized role of money in politics, Cruz said he understands voters' frustration but that cannot trump the constitutional rights to free speech.

"Right now, the system is crazy," Cruz said of the campaign finance rules.

In the Senate, Cruz has proposed lifting all campaign contribution limits in exchange for immediate disclosure.

"The answer is not to muzzle citizens. It is to empower citizens," Cruz said.

Yet Cruz acknowledged that heavy spending had been a headache during his 2012 campaign for Senate. "In the Senate race, I had $35 million in nasty attack ads against me," Cruz said. "And you know what? It was their Constitutional right to do so."
Basically, Cruz is in favor of elections being bought by George Soros and the Koch Brothers.  And this guy claims to represent grassroot conservatives.
so he his supporting freedom? I don't get what's so bad about it? The democrats outfunded the republicans for midterms 3-1. Do you see us whining like little babies?

They're demanding reparations for World War Two to the tune of £240bn and threatening to seize German property if it isn't paid. Talk about bread and circuses.

Quote
Germany has reacted with anger and defiance to Greek government demands for multibillion-euro reparation payments over first and second world war atrocities.

Greece’s justice minister, Nikos Paraskevopoulos, said Athens was prepared to approve a court ruling to seize German property in the country – including the Goethe Institute, the German Archaeological Institute, German schools and holiday homes if Berlin refused to pay €341bn (£240bn) in compensation.

The demands, which also included the return of 8,500 archaeological treasures and artefacts in Germany, were met with incredulity in Berlin.

Seizures of property that could extend to holiday homes of private German citizens would be used to compensate victims of a second world war Nazi massacre of 218 Greek civilians in the village of Distomo, the government said.

Bela Anda, who was a spokesman for Gerhard Schröder when he was German chancellor, now an editor at tabloid Bild, branded the threats “bizarre, presumptuous and impertinent”.

“The government of [Alexis] Tsipras positions the lever where Germany is most vulnerable – the crimes committed by Germany in the first and second world wars. It’s moral blackmail,” he said.

The demands stem from a Greek finance ministry report published in December 2014 which calculated on the basis of expert assessment that Germany “owed” Greece €9.2bn for the first world war, €322bn for the second world war and €10bn for money Greece was forced to lend the Nazi regime in 1942.

Resentment in Greece over Nazi atrocities remains high, and has been greatly exacerbated by frustrations over its bailout and the widespread feeling that Germany is largely to blame for Greece’s woes.

The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and her finance minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, have been repeatedly depicted in the Greek media in Nazi uniform.

Some of the happier and more well adjusted trans people I know were lucky enough to go on hormone blockers and started HRT when they were 18. They were only allowed after extensive therapist research and after a proper diagnosis of GID.

It's not a bad thing, and the body resumes puberty like normal if you stop taking them.

Nick: The third key theme is 'The Greens will ensure everyone has a secure, affordable place to live. How would that be brought about?

Natalie: A couple of things that we want to focus on. In terms of council housing, we want to build 500,000 new social rent homes.

Nick: Good lord, where would you get the money from for that?

Natalie: Well, what we want to do is fund that particularly by removing tax relief on mortgage interests for private landlords. We have a situation where...

Nick: How much would that bring in?

Natalie: Private landlords at the moment are basically running away with the situation of hugely rising rents while collecting huge amounts of housing benefit.

Nick: How much would that be worth, the mortgage relief for private landlords?

Natalie: "Erm... well... it's... that's part of the whole costing."

Nick: Yes, but how much would that bring? The cost of 500,000 homes, let's start with that. How much would that be?

Natalie: "Right, well, that's, erm... you've got a total cost... erm... that we're... that will be spelt out in our manifesto.

Nick: So you don't know?

Natalie: No, well, err.

Nick: You don't, ok. So you don't know how much those homes are going to cost, but the way it's going to be funded is mortgage relief from private landlords. How much is that worth?

Natalie: Right, well what we're looking at with the figures here. Erm, what we need to do is actually... uh......... we're looking at a total spend of £2.7... billion.

Nick: 500,000 homes, £2.7billion? What are they made of, plywood?

Natalie: Erm, basically what we're talking about is 500,000 new homes and basically each one pound spent on this brings back £2.40...

Nick: Yes, but what is the total cost of 500,000 homes?

Natalie: [Long, long pause] Erm... it's a cost of £60,000 per home.

Nick: £60,000 per home?

Natalie: Because what we're talking about is, is the opportunity for...

Nick: That can't include the land?

Natalie: Well, what we're talking about is, what we want to see is the possibility of, um, of homes being built...

Nick: That's not much more than a large conservatory, £60,000. So where's the land, how are you going to pay for the land?

Natalie: [Even longer pause] Right, well, what we're, what we're looking at doing is, is... is basically *cough, cough, cough*

Nick: Are you alright?

Natalie: Yes, sorry, as you can probably hear, I have got a huge cold.

Nick: I'm terribly sorry to hear that.

Natalie: So, so what we need to do is, is social rental homes.

Nick: Right. Still don't see how you're going to get this... some at £60,000... you don't actually know how much this is going to cost, do you?

Natalie: Uh, yes, we've got a fully-costed programme which we'll be releasing, which will be released...

Nick: Shouldn't you be aware of what that cost will be now?

Natalie: Uh, right, yes. So what we're talking about is £6billion per year. So the current budget is £1.5billion a year.

Nick: £6billion? That will be attained by taking mortgage relief from private landlords? That's £6billion-worth is it?

Natalie: And we're also looking at investing... [long pause]. Yes, well, it's... we've got the fully costed figures here.

Nick: You've said that on a couple of occasions. How much does mortgage relief from private landlords bring in then?

Natalie: [Long pause] *cough, cough* Basically, we're talking about an overall saving of £4.5billion.

Nick: What? Mortgage relief is worth £4.5billion a year?

Natalie: And this is other saving as well, from private landlords as well, we're looking at housing benefit reforms and what we also want to do is bring in caps on private tenants.

Nick: Yes, do you think you could have perhaps have ginned up on this a bit more Natalie Bennett?

Natalie: *cough, cough* Uh, I think that we're talking about a whole range of...

Nick: No, you personally, do you think you might have ginned up a little, might you have read into this a little more in hindsight?

Natalie: What we're talking about is a whole range of issues this morning, ranging from the economy, the NHS.

Nick: Yes, I've only time for two unfortunately. I wish I had more time.

EDIT: oh god this sounds so much like a Dustin post

One popular GOP talking point is that the news and media in general has a leftward slant--is this actually a thing, or are they just being delusional citizens of Republicantown? Even Wikipedia and Snopes have been accused of being liberal.

My gut reaction is that "it's not biased if it's true," and I think of Stephen Colbert's one-liner, "the truth has a well-known liberal bias."

...Is it actually a thing?
yes

http://www.myfoxal.com/story/28027027/chilton-county-probate-judge-no-longer-performing-marriage-ceremonies?clienttype=generic&mobilecgbypass

Quote
Chilton County Probate Judge Bobby Martin will no longer perform marriage ceremonies at the county courthouse.

The judge said he typically performs about 16 marriage ceremonies a month.

When asked about the reason for the change, Martin said he isn't required to perform the ceremonies and as of Tuesday he "just stopped having ceremonies in the courthouse."

However, he told the Clanton Advertiser "I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, and because of that, I will not perform a ceremony for a couple that doesn't fit in that criteria."

Martin wouldn't confirm to WSFA 12 News if the decision was related to the recent federal ruling that struck down the ban on same-sex marriage in Alabama. A hold on the ruling is set to expire Monday unless the U.S. Supreme Court approves Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange's motion for a stay.

Martin said he will issue marriage licenses to any couple who comes in starting Monday.

The current marriage license form includes spaces to enter information for the "bride" and "groom." Martin said he's expecting to get a new marriage license form from the Alabama Department of Public Health sometime Friday, but it will take some time to enter the new form into the computer system. He said the new form might not be in the system Monday if they don't get it until late Friday.

I guess they were right - gay marriage IS destroying traditional marriage.
