This mindset relies on there being an objective scale of pleasure/pain which doesn't exist in any way. shape, or form. Because the absence of pain is intrinsically good.
The absence of pleasure being "not bad" is just a basic observational fact. If I am not currently experiencing pleasure, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's certainly better than feeling pain or suffering or discomfort or any other negative sensation--so it's not bad. It's neutral.
If there were no people, there would be no pain, no suffering, no discomfort, no anything. That's a good thing.
The absence of pleasure and happiness isn't a bad thing.
