Gaming / Re: A couple new details on No Man's Sky
« on: June 22, 2015, 07:23:22 PM »
I feel like people are expecting way too much from No Man's Sky.
It's an artsy game that, without the hype, would be amazing. But with all this hype, people are going to be really let down.
I don't think people actually understand what it is. There's still tons of people who think they'll be able to find their friends. And I think it will have what I like to call the minecraft effect. Some people will spend thousands of hours in it. Others will say "there's nothing to do"
I agree with this 100%
Everything I've seen from this game (I've researched a lot) indicates this game is practically made for me. But I will admit I could certainly see how others would think otherwise.

the colour palette needs more variety. all im seeing is bright colours everywhere
I saw an interview where Sean Murray was explaining why they chose that particular style. He explained that they were going for the 60's and 70's Sci-Fi posters.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody complain about too much color in a game
lol this ain't no Call o' Duty here.

I don't know much of anything about the GoT universe however you are free to make a thread in a similar way to the previous ones. Also you can get a good sense of it by reading through some of those threads. Any questions on it just direct it to me or Class really.

All that space is neat and all, but if there isn't a story or a reason that motivates me to explore, this game will pull a Destiny
games don't need stories

difference between nms and destiny is that destiny was advertised as having rich cinematic storytelling, nms is being advertised as an enormous exploration game
The funny thing is that nms probably has more story in it than Destiny will ever have.
jk but the developers even said that this game has no cut scenes, dialogue, or much storytelling. All they've announced in the way of story is that there will be a lore, an opening cinematic that's reminiscent of 2001's ending, and the center of the universe but I have no clue what that's going to be.

The main draw is the exploration and making your own story as you explore the universe. Basically the kind of game I've always wanted.
