Transparency nothing. I know full well from being in the staff chat and HQ for a time that these "extensive talks" really didn't last that long. Maybe you've ramped them up for this but it wasn't "extensive" when I was there. We talked about the candidates every day since the nomination thread was made. It was practically the only topic of conversation in the mod chat for the past few days and everyone chimed in on more than one occasion. In the HQ forum, there's currently 5 different threads dedicated to changes to the staff and the new monitors. In the end, there's only so much talking you can do. Icy compiled a list of all the nominated members and the entire staff picked their favorites, with some of us even listing "maybe" and "no" groups while giving reasons for it all. We narrowed it down to a final few that everyone agreed on and then went with the two most popular choices. Sure, we could've always been more thorough, but I do think that we put quite a bit of effort into this.
This means nothing dude. How many times have certain members of the mod team not posted or not even been on the site in the last month or so. Activity seems to be negligible. I'm just talking about advice on how to become a staff member, not on how to remain one. That being said, staff activity does get taken into account. It's part of the reason while the roster is being changed now. Update coming up soon.
When was the last time the current mod team contributed anything substantial to the community? Can't remember anything for a good month, maybe two.
Again, I'm merely talking about becoming a monitor rather than actually being one. Contributing simply makes you stand out.Well this just made me laugh and you know exactly why.

Ah yea. That's fair. I was just wondering but it's good to hear there were extensive talks about it. But also good to hear you're actually looking in to the current staff's behavior.

I honestly think a few of the staff members don't know that its a thing. Cheat, did at least, just give people powers without giving any kind of how to or lesson. Like I remember when I became mod he literally just said "have fun, please don't break anything" and I had to figure out everything myself. Not sure if that's still how things work but yeah.
Same thing for the mod trial actually. No guidance, no explanation on how things worked, no letting us know what certain things did. Actually at one point I was told to "stop asking so many questions and figure it out for yourself." (I'm won't name who it was) but when judgement came turns out it was the least active one who got the job out of the 3 of us. Oh and I was also told a reason I wasn't chosen was that "I didn't ask enough questions."
Wow that's actually pretty fucked up. I can understand why you're so salty about that.
And y'know there's that whole thing about Cheat demoting me and Rocket because he was getting rid of the monitor role only for it to come back a couple months later... >.>

The one thing that I've been advocating here from way before I became a staff member is transparency. Transparency nothing. I know full well from being in the staff chat and HQ for a time that these "extensive talks" really didn't last that long. Post often and in all the different boards too. We don't pick mods / monitors for just a single section of the site, so try to branch out a little if you almost exclusively stick to a single board or two. This means nothing dude. Offer to help with things in the community and site whenever you can. Organize game nights, make youtube videos, write reviews, make news entries, host forum games, spread the word and recruit members, design stuff in photoshop and so forth. Can't remember anything for a good month, maybe two. - Stand up for what you believe in. Not in the sense of "DEATH BEFORE COMPROMISE", of course, but we do want a relatively diverse staff team that can give multiple perspectives on certain issues. Speak up if you believe something is wrong and suggest how to change it. Don't unnecessarily cling to something if it's not going to happen, but don't try to suck up to the staff. Speaking your mind in a reasonable and adult manner, pitching new ideas, coming up with your own solutions and civil disagreements with current policies go a lot further than always agreeing with what others say just because you think it'll make you a better candidate. Well this just made me laugh and you know exactly why.

Kitsune is a good choice. She's nice, almost to a fault.
Kupo has shown he has no problem abandoning this place if people disagree with him over his opinions.
He's a cool guy but I don't really see him as monitor material.
People have disagreed with me plenty of times before without me leaving.

I can attest to this. Working out for a while, lost hella weight and lowered my blood pressure which was the reason for it. Overall healthier, but I still feel like shit ere'day. On top of that, I think I fucked up my knee...both of them actually.

Well I guess it started last year when I was trying to slim down. To do so I just ate less and that did a decent job until the start of this summer where I began to lift, run, etc. The thing is that I've never cared enough to start working out on a consistent basis but finding motivation in what could come from it seems to be working really well for me. Having goals to work towards is what I mean (for me it's imagining situations I could find myself in if I work really hard such as; playing professional baseball/hockey, finally getting the girl I like, or just having a toned, fit body in general.) They're motivational goals that really can push you towards completing your set or going beyond it. Like I've been routinely working out every second or third day for 2 months and I'm seeing major results. And now that in itself drives me to continue doing what I'm doing most days. oh and having really good music helps too.
