I'm having a really tough time following the MLB playoffs this year mostly because the Jays aren't there but also the Leafs are so damn good.
Joey Bats is a free agent now. How do you feel about that?
He got the send off he deserved. Sad to see him go but he had an amazing career with the Jays. I wish him well if he plays next season and if he doesn't that's fine too.

This happens with literally everything.
nope

there are games, movies, etc. that are still heavily celebrated several decades after they were made

i've had stuff happen to me when i was seven or eight that i still look back on now

it's not really that unusual
Sure there are. Just like there are sporting events that are still celebrated decades after they happened. People still remember and actively cherish the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup in 1967 and that happened a half century ago. Certain games such as Game 7 of the Bruins and Leafs in 2013 (for unfortunate reasons but nevertheless). They remember because it was a great game. A classic.

Not every hyped up sporting event is remembered as a classic but neither is every hyped up video game. It's the exact same thing.
You know you could've used actual boxing as an example lmao fucking Canadians
I don't care about boxing whatsoever and don't know any examples to cite. This was another point I was going to bring up actually. Perhaps he hasn't heard about the event since it happened because he doesn't surround himself with boxing fans. My friends and I talk about hockey and we discuss historical games and stuff.

EDIT: Even if you wanted to make the argument "oh well that's a championship of course they remember" there are moments that are remembered by virtue of how incredible a moment it was. The Toronto Blue Jays haven't won a championship since 1993 but they've had some moments in the last two years that I'll remember for the rest of my life and I still see people talking about regularly.

here come the mad faggots

a whole lot of hype for something no one could even give a fuck about anymore

maybe we shouldn't be hyping this stupid shit up if no one's even gonna care in the future, huh

or would that be too intelligent
This happens with literally everything. People hype up movies, TV shows, etc. Maybe we shouldn't be hyping up any type of entertainment or media if no one's even gonna care in the future. huh?

I'm not mad, nor did I care about this event. This is just a stupid argument to make.

The worst issue about hockey is that you can't see the puck? Are you blind?
Are you blind?
Well no. I can see the puck.
Sure, I can see the puck to when it's not moving.
And I can see / know where it is while it's moving.
