It wasn't the "tree of knowledge", it was the "tree of knowledge of good and evil". Adam already knew what was good (everything), and very well could have been the smartest person in history, having face to face conversations with an omniscient god, speaking from within the framework of the story.

Knowledge isn't good just because it's knowledge. It wasn't about enlightenment, it was about fucking people over for the hell of it.

I suppose that this opens up a whole new avenue. What if there is something between the polar opposites of good and evil?

God didn't keep His creations, Adam and Eve, completely ignorant. They had emotion, felt love, all those things.
What did they know? They knew that they should obey God. They could eat of any tree, but the one bearing the knowlege of good and evil.

And let me give you another example of Yahweh's...demeanor, why does he tell King Saul to essentially eradicate a group of people? Why did Yahweh tell Moses and his group to kill an innocent man for picking sticks for his fire just because it was Saturday (Sabbath)? Why kill thousands of innocent Egyptians? Why the suffering and destruction? Why choose a group of people above the others instead of bringing salvation to all humans?

I can ask a lot of things but these are the first that came to mind. Yahweh has literally killed more people in our entire history than Lucifer.

Again I have a feeling that the OT god was a lot more of a rule setter than a true to the facts story.
Although with that being said he instantly becomes lower due to humans basically creating the time before the NT.

MY THREAD IS BETTER

This is my thread, there are many like it but this one is mine. 

I've wondered this same thing some times before. The Old Testament god is so strange and cryptic in the way he does these things. And like you're saying, he keeps knowledge away from his creations. Some could argue that this is god showing that he is evil or something.
I personally don't look at the OT as a historical book but as a good story book. Interesting stuff but some things are downright cruel.
