The design/balancing is just godawful
The netcode is piss-poor, but somehow relatively no one seems to complain about it
The number of gametypes is laughable (even if you were to include every single event related gametype, you'd have...3, 4 if you want to count FFA as a separate gametype)
The only thing they've got is matches not taking 45 minutes to find.

Halo 2 Solo Legendary isn't too bad. Look up legendary speedruns first, and see if there are any parts you can skip easily (ex: you can skip half of Outskirts with some simple crouch jumps and beat Uprising in 3 mins using a glitch). Naked Eli has a series on YouTube that's pretty good.

I feel like Halo 2 is probably easier solo, since co-op works the way it does now with Iron on. In solo, you can just worry about speedrunning and not your friend getting killed by jackals.

I remember noticing a tiny arithmetic error on a Calc exam in the last 10 minutes, and that tiny error meant part A, B, C, D, and E were all incorrect, which made up 1/3 of the exam, and it was an all-or-nothing type of deal.

It had good custom games, but virtually no one to play with, since the matchmade multiplayer scared off millions of people. It's actually the reason I like Reach better than H4, though: H4 had terrible multiplayer AND terrible custom games.
