Nobody should be treated like this. There are plenty of stories in game development where developers were targeted with death threats in the past, and some harassment. Some people out there are, to put it bluntly, assholes. Threatening people's lives is not a funny matter.

Whoever is harassing someone like that, sending threats and so forth, no matter how just they may be– they mustn't get away with it. It's a criminal offense, it's illegal and more so immoral. #GamerGate is composed by hate, and that's not acceptable.

Zoe Quinn... That's a whole entire story on its own. Where most of the people who go bother hating on her probably aren't even qualified to do so, not only for not being involved into such a shameful and twisted story that came into the public light, but also because it lacks respect for the fellow person.

If you want to be better than Zoe Quinn, Kotaku and all these people who blatantly hate on others through a tag then be better. Be respectful, be decent, be someone you would be happy with being without spouting out your issues, worries, fears, and whatever else onto other's misery.

Sincerely, this whole matter is a bad stain for the reputation of all the journalists because of the implications of lack of ethics, respect and professionalism; where writers and creatives out there who put work into being professional, neutral and ethical as much as possible with their work might be affected by the general image generated by this.

BBC certainly has raised a solid point; behave like humans, think twice before insulting someone online, think twice before joining on any kind of ongoing social gathering, and understand that at the other side of the screen, behind a video game and behind any kind of work there's a person, with also their own issues, story, experiences and desires. Where BBC failed was to provide a properly neutral argument and to also showcase why people who jump into such a hate train, and why would someone might want to go as some people went over this issue.
