Flee, I suppose.
I've never been to his country and it would be a decent opportunity to check it out.

I'm amused that the book the film is based off of is called The Chinaman.

probably just a crazy old man, but i'd like it if it were true
do you guys even check reports anymore
yes
but this is also off topic
Maybe if you responded to my three posts + admin quote + report in the thread this pertains to, I wouldn't have had to go off topic
sorry i have a life outside of this forum? you can bring this to pm or discord if you want to talk about this further.
lol? Are you the only person on the mod staff?
not to mention the thread is still unlocked, I will continue to talk about this here until you do your job
Threads belong to the people, shitstain.
LOL as if
a thread is like a house party, you can invite people in but if you're getting annoyed you have the right to shut it down
Hell naw. A thread is public property.
You're both wrong actually. Threads belong to the nords.

History Buffs and Alternate History Hub are also two youtube chanels you might check out.
History Buffs gives reviews on films from a historical perspective.
While Alternate History Hub doesn't strictly-speaking do actual history, he provides context in his videos that is valuable if you're looking to learn.
Lindybeige might be another one you'd be interested in, since he does videos on a wide variety of historical topics and doesn't necessarily focus on warfare.
I feel like lindy has been slowly losing his mind. The thirty minute video on why human females evolved permanent breasts really just kinda cemented it.
I mean, yeah, but he's still interesting.

Honestly, I just don't care enough about the American Revolution to try and invest my attention in it.
But it's nice that Alexander Hamilton got some public attention.
UGH, LMM needs to do a psa about this sentiment or something
the play is NOT about the American Revolution, France, the formation of America, politics, or anything else like that
It's about Hamilton and Burr - their friendship, their rivalry, their differences and similarities, and of course their tragic end. Burr isn't even a supporting character or antagonist, he's a straight up deuteragonist. The play may as well have been called "Hamilton & Burr"
Yeah, but since I don't care about the revolution, I don't really care about Burr or Hamilton.
um are people defined by their time periods? lol?
"I don't care about Elvis because I don't care about Vietnam"
No, but he held significant influence on the foundation of early America, which was a significant part of the revolutionary time period. And while it's all well and good to find a person's story to be gripping due to who they were as a person rather than the times in which they influenced; and I certainly feel that this is an important aspect of history, that's just not what I generally find stimulating to dig into.
Fair enough. I just don't want people to see Hamilton as a "history play", because as Ian can tell you lol, it's not

Tbh it's only interesting as it relates to the Anglo-French Wars (specifically the Seven Years War and the Anglo-French War of 1783) and the issues of Colonialism.
My historical interest in the west basically drops off with the Norman conquest of England, but ye.
Colonial India is much more interesting than Colonial America, anyways.
I'll take your word for it.

On another note, if you want some interesting history stuff Verb, Extra Credits has a series on it with stuff I never even knew/I thought would be interesting. It's not always accurate to a tee but the general idea of it all is. Plus the animations make it interesting, and it's not bogged down in super series music and a deep voiced narrator.
If you want I could recommend you some

There you go. If you wanted something in Roman times, choose the Punic Wars. If you want one on Japan, Sengoku Jidai is pretty cool on the characters he dives into, but the one he apparently put the most work into is Justinian and Theodora, which is basically the Eastern Roman Empire, after the West had fallen.
The hidden bonus I enjoyed was The Broad Street Pump. It's about John Snow (I know) and how one man more or less changed how cities were built. It's a shame they don't teach this more in schools.
this is pretty cool, thanks
The one on Yi-Sun Shin is basically a sequel to the Sengoku Jidai, but from an opposing perspective, bt-dubs.

Tbh Cillian Murphy was the best character of the entire trilogy.
such an underrated actor
have you ever seen Red Eye?
I have not, but I liked him in Anthropoid and The Wind that Shakes the Barley.

What period of history do you find most interesting, if at all?
Also, most history documentaries are complete crap and are very inaccurate/misleading, so, I'd say go about it someother way.
I'd recommend the Extra Credits Extra History videos on youtube if you're looking for an easy introduction into certain subjects.
What Luci said is also very good advice regarding getting into a historical topic. Video Games are very good at engaging my interest in history, and the Total War series especially is exceptional at this due to the constant stream of little tidbits of information about the world you're playing in that provide you threads of investigation that you otherwise would not have known about.
I personally found the Viking DLC for Mount and Blade: Warband to be another good example of a video game that provides this sort of thing.

If there is absolutely nothing else (and I mean NOTHING) then it would be, but I would try to find SOMETHING else instead.
"THIS WASN'T TO KEEP PEOPLE OUT...IT WAS TO KEEP SOMETHING IIIINNNN!!!!!!!!"
but is it at least okay background noise, or would you say it's bad at even that? Fair enough.
