Spoiler JJ sure as hell didn't. He made a Palpatine ripoff; just like every other mystery box in TFA, it only concealed thin air and Rian knew that. We weren't going to get anything new or interesting out of Snoke that we couldn't get from a tie-in novel.
Snoke is boring. If he were Plaguis that would be stupid.
Him dying changes the situation a lot, and makes things more interesting. Now Kylo has surpassed Vader in just one way: he was able to kill and overthrow the lord he swore fealty to.

Spoiler the movie was too quippy, at times it felt almost like an MCU movie. The worst parts were the opening with Hux, and the porg stuff, although I must admit I chuckled when it cut from chewie eating one to a group of them staring at him.
I laughed out loud at super Leia, and can't believe no one else did. By far the most retarded moment in the film for me, but overall I enjoyed the movie a lot more than TFA, which I struggle to watch nowadays.
