You're probably the shittiest member on this site.
He's objectively the best.
Are you kidding? He's literally the worst.
I don't think that being a general ass, and calling people "the worst user here" is going to win you any supporters.

But... they aren't human. They're a fictional murderous group of subhuman scum in a fictional movie.

Holy shit these people. If anything they're racist for saying "replace Tusken Raiders with black/Jewish etc" because Tusken Raiders are subhuman, so replacing them with specific races of PEOPLE is fucking racist.
B-Bu-But the rights of sentient beans!

Adoption is an option. An option preferable to denying someone life.
So you'd rather either the kid suffer in foster homes and probably end up becoming a criminal or the parents drop out of university to take care of the kid and they all live mediocre lives.

I'm not exactly pro abortion, but it's not a terrible thing to do compared to other outcomes. Now, if the parents can help raise the kid so their kids can stay in school, hell no you shouldn't have an abortion.

But it's not just about money. It's about how it's extremely likely the parents will separate and that they're bad parents. Why bring a kid into all that? We're getting overpopulated as it is.

Firstly: You're assuming the worst possible outcome. Who is to say family member''s couldn't take the child in? And if they can't, you are operating under the assumption that the child's life will be unpleasant and have no happiness in it whatsoever.

And even then, I'm sure the kid would rather be in a foster home than dead.

So, TheForce.net has got to be one of the most hilariously sensitive, whiny communities I've ever seen. Not only is there a thread with 9,000+ replies titled "Ignorance is Bias: The Diversity Manifesto", but I recently found this gem. I've taken some screenshots of the highlights.

So, to summarize how this came about: There's a discussion on how in AoTC, it doesn't make sense that Padme has such a subdued reaction to Anakin stating he murdered an entire village of Tusken Raiders. One guy, Gallandro, says that in Star Wars, because the settlers are so often the victims of the Tusken's brutal raids, the settlers see the Tuskens as less than human (or sentient beings or whatever). This is supported by Cliegg Lars referring to the Sandpeople as "animals". Which, to be honest, I can understand. Sandniggers Tusken Raiders haven't proven themselves to be the most compassionate people. It's also important to note that another user, Saga Explorer, agrees with Gallandro and comments on the matter.

So anyway, these guys say that if the settlers see the Tuskens as animals, and because Padme has been speaking exclusively with the Lars family, to her Anakin killing the village is basically the same as killing a pack of wolves. He didn't say such thinking was justified, Gallandro merely attempted to explain Padme's subdued reaction to Anakin's confession. And my gosh, the butthurt and #triggering that ensued...

Here's an album of the highlights. It's mainly the comments of two mods, but their posts have a lot of likes, indicating many agree with them.

Again, allow me to remind you that these users, Gallandro and SagaExplorer, never said such thinking was justified, they only attempted to explain why the pacifist Padme didn't flip out. Yet, the mods and others react as though these guys said Hitler was justified. A guy's comments about a fictional species in Star Wars spiraled into a serious discussion on the sanctity of life and the rights of sentient beings, with the mods saying the statements of the users are "gross". Given that this is the same community that had people referring to the Plinkett reviews as "PROPAGANDA" (in all caps too), this doesn't surprise me. Honestly if I didn't know any better, you could tell me this was a Star Wars discussion on Tumblr and I would probably believe you.

Here's the thread, around the beginning of the debate if you're willing to delve into the autism: http://boards.theforce.net/threads/star-wars-aftermath.50028106/page-29

So yeah. What experiences have you had with sensitive communities or users on the internet?

That's like how Lucas had the Temuera Morrison re-record all of Boba Fett's dialogue for his fancy Original Trilogy. Well that meant the original Boba Fett actor went uncredited in those versions, and his role in the movies was basically erased.

Not only that but the old Boba Fett sounded 10x cooler. Better voice acting, and he sounded more menacing.

Why are you guys discussing these comics? Hayden in ROTJ is not canon, and neither is anything coming out after Disney's purchase of the franchise.
Look, the comics feel more like Star Wars than the EU stuff did. Need I remind you of Trioculous?

Allows Anakin Skywalker to appear as he did when he was not corrupted by the darkside

Nah, he was like that when he was corrupted.

Sebastian Shaw ghost appeared as he did because he was redeemed.
Anakin looked like that for a good year before Revenge of the Sith.
And during that time he exhibited behavior foreshadowing his eventual fall to the Dark Side. Shaw makes more sense.

In the context that George was using, I don't see how a slightly angry Anakin is worse than an Anakin that killed hundreds of Jedi and innocents, laid waste to multiple planets, and was consumed by the darkside, but okay. Just because he killed the Emperor didn't make him good. I bet you if he survived, he would still have the tendency to choke a bitch for getting in his way. You don't just rid yourself of the darkside like that.

Outside of that context though, yeah I guess, but now we can have Anakin in more movies.
But he was redeemed at the end of ROTJ, hence why he's even there.
Throughout the later seasons of TCW he chokes people, exhibits intense jealousy, etc.

Meh. He's less shitty as Anakin than he was as Vader. He was still shitty. My question is, why is Anakin even there?
Did he learn it somehow, because it's a taught skill as we learned in The Clone Wars. Or does he just get a free pass because he's The Chosen One? He's heading to Obi-wan's shack on Tatooine in the next issue of Darth Vader, so maybe we find out there.
It's issue #7 that he travels to Tatooine.

Oh, thought it was the next one. Either way, I hope we find out. Maybe there'll be a "do this combo to make yourself younger" type thing that Obi-wan and Yoda didn't want because they're too modest.

Edit: I was half right. He goes to Obi-wan's shack in Star Wars #4

That's Luke who goes to his shack.

The Flood / Re: I can't stand Daredevil's Fisk actor
« on: April 12, 2015, 12:00:22 AM »

You might remember Vincent D'Onofrio from Full Metal Jacket, but now he's playing New York's biggest crime boss Wilson Fisk, AKA Kingpin, in the new Daredevil series. I can barely get through this guy's scenes, he's doing such a terrible job at his role. Yeah he's tall and fat and has nice suits, but that's the extent of his characterization. Amazingly, the actor that plays Fisk as a kid does a better job than D'Onofrio. Between hissing out every line through gritted teeth and overacting his cliche 'rich guy just wants to save the poor neighborhoods' role, I can't wait for this guy to get killed off. Unfortunately, I really doubt they'll get the Kingpin out of the way any time soon, so we're stuck with him.

I've seen other people saying they really like him in the role, but I just can't enjoy it. Thoughts?

I'm conflicted. Sometimes I think he does an alright job, that perhaps making Fisk really intense and, I guess not socially awkward, but stiff; is the point. The scenes where he's having dinner are incredibly uncomfortable, and again, I can't tell whether it was the intention of the creators for it to be that way or not.

But then I wonder if everything I just mentioned is poor acting.

Even though I guarantee Roman is exaggerating this situation(she said hi and they have each others numbers for work lol) I like this topic. It is definitely within his right to not want to fuck someone because of something that turns him off. That doesn't make him an asshole it means he has standards

Standards are good
You're missing the point.

It's not that he has standards, it's just that the only thing he is looking for is sex (he even admitted it), and now he's pretending to have the high ground even though his position towards the whole thing is to hit it and then dump it. Hell, it wouldn't even be such a problem if he was just looking for sex. But now he's trying to be picky when he's just looking for a one-night stand or something.
having short lived sexual relationships with two willing adults is not bad. Sometimes I see a girl I do not want a relationship with, but definitely want to bed so I go for it, we do our thing, and then leave without any commitment. People do this all the time.

Being picky with a one night stand is good. You want a girl with a cute face, maybe some of your fetishes like a big butt or long legs, and then you move. Oh shit she has terrible breath and bad teeth? I nope the heck out of there.

"But jive don't be a prick it's just a one night stand" nah if i don't like it I'm not going to go for it. In addition smoking is something you can change unlike physical attributes
One night stands are wrong.

I do not see why these are bad things. And don't throw out rape as an example, or when the mother's life is in danger. Those are grey areas.
So what about the situation where you're well off enough financially where you could cover yourself fine, but if you had a kid, you'd both suffer greatly. Or if you're a university student who would have to drop out if you had a baby. Especially if it were an accident.

Wanting to stem the flow of ILLEGAL immigrants is not bad.
It'll cost billions and billions of dollars to build a wall sufficient enough to keep immigrants out. And that's just from the land. They'll all just find another way to get across. Like y'know. Taking a boat. Or an airplane.

A wall would be a gigantic waste of money and it's just populist rhetoric.
I see your point in regards to the latter.

On the former, however, I vehemently disagree. Actions have consequences. It is inexcusable to deny someone the chance at life because of a mistake you made. Granted, had you not made the mistake their life would not have occurred, but because you did, their life WILL begin. I'd say denying someone life is not a proportionate response to potential financial hardship.

I don't understand how people can seriously support abortion outside of certain circumstances.
But in the first case, it's either both of you have a shitty, burdened life, or you have a financially stable life. It wouldn't be fair to either the mother or her child.
Adoption is an option. An option preferable to denying someone life.

I'm sorry but I don't care about the claims of a bunch of overly sensitive manchildren.

Then why do you use the Plinkett reviews as a base for your argument?  Sounds like you just care about the claims that support your way of thinking.
I use them as a base for my argument because they make very effective points as to the flaws of the prequel trilogy. Some more than others, but good points nonetheless.

I guess I'll make a thread on them in a bit then.
I look forward to it.
