I agree with everything you said. I had never seen a Mad Max movie before so there were some things I was confused about at first.

When I got home the original movie just happened to be on TV and I didn't really understand how it went from basically normal to complete insane wasteland in just a couple movies.
way i understand it is mad max 1 is kinda like the setup for the shit to hit the fan. also, each of the movies kinda exists in their own "continuity"- The Road Warrior is like this insane folk legend, almost like the Australian film James Bond, so we get these pseudo-anthology stories about his exploits.
That's pretty cool. I definitely want to check out 2 and 3 now.
I'd skip 3 if I were you, that is unless you enjoy unapologetic kiddie marketing.
Ugh... They were like the post apocalyptic equivalent of the ewoks.

I have no clue about anything Mad Max. My friend loves the series though, so I'll watch this one and just be confused.

You don't need to watch the other films to understand this movie, and there's a scene that provides some brief background info.

Fun fact: Immortan Joe was played by the same guy who played Toecutter in Mad Max 1

Just saw Fury Road today, and am still hyped as fuck. Best action movie I've seen in years. Great, subtle storytelling, just the right amount of humor, fantastic visual direction, INCREDIBLE OST. Theron and Hardy fucking nailed it. All of the supporting cast was great too, especially Nux. Can't wait for more Madness in the future. You can really tell that this has always been George Miller's vision for the franchise. Made great use of practical and CGI effects

I can't wait for a sequel, especially considering the last awesome action movie I saw, Dredd (2012) doesn't appear to be getting one.

That was the most bizarre, fucked up, and disturbing film I've seen in a long time...

It was fucking awesome.

Theron's mechanical arm was really cool, as were all the vehicles. Humor was great, villains were creepy, deformities were abound. I wouldn't watch this film if you're easily disturbed or squeamish.

My main complaint is the cinematography. It's interesting, very 300-esque. Depending on the scene, I either liked or disliked it. Other than that, there was little I disliked. The film could've been reduced in length slightly, but this isn't really a problem.

8/10. I advise you all to travel through the doors of your nearest theater, shiny and chrome!

I can't decide if it's a good movie or a trash one.

The reveal at the foot of the engine compartment was extraordinary.
If only the rest of the movie took itself that seriously.

Yeah now that you mention it, there were some pretty silly scenes. In the wake of the revelation you mentioned I forgot about the more questionable elements of the film. Namely, the guards gutting the trout with the hatchet. What the hell was that about?

The fight scenes weren't especially remarkable either. and Most things inbetween were just incredibly surreal.
I don't even know where to begin with that damn ending.

The scene with the teacher and the Skorpion SMG felt like something out of Hot Fuzz.

It's a great film, but it is definitely one of the most soul-crushing films I've ever seen.

Indeed. The dialogue between the druggie and Evans near the end was extremely depressing.

Hah, I watched that with my roommate a few months ago.  Wasn't a fan.

Mind stating what you disliked? Not trying to challenge your opinion; just interested as to what others thought of the film.

A couple of weeks ago, I read the description about Snowpeicer on Netflix, and instead of having trains, the description made the movie sound like the revolution was about surfing. Weird right?

Haha! Regardless, I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Wikipedia summary:
Quote
The movie takes place aboard the globe-spanning Snowpiercer train which holds the last remnants of humanity after a manufactured attempt to stop global warming created a new ice age. Captain America stars as Curtis Everett, a member of the lower-class tail section passengers as they lead a revolution against the elite of the front of the train.

Revolution as a result of class conflict? Guys... Steve Rogers is a fucking Commie. America is a lie.

Spoiler
Good movie though. Takes a bit to really get into gear, but when it does, it's pretty decent. The revelations in the last third of the film were pretty shocking. Also, one of the best parts of the film, for me, is that even minor tidbits of dialogue in the beginning connected to later parts of the story. Pretty good film, I'd give it a 7/10.

The film is currently on Netflix, and I'd highly recommend it.

Ugh, I hate how SJW clamour to this fight as if it's a testament to Brienne's fighting capabilities, yet never fail to recognise the nuances involved.

The Hound was tired, weak, possibly infected and malnourished whereas Brienne was more than likely fully rested, not under any kind of physical ailment and had the best possible armour and weapons the Lannisters could buy.

Same deal with Jaimie. He was in chains, malnourished and clad in dirty rags. I find it funny that GRRM and the show writers have to depower her opponents to such a degree where she stands a fighting chance. In the books she's not even a top tier fighter. She's just an abnormally large woman.

And yeah I realise my autism is showing right about now.

Yeah, I'm not a GoT fan, but even I understand certain factors enabled her victory, factors which put the guy at a clear disadvantage. I don't mind the fight or her victory, but watching that clip and then exclaiming she won because of "girl power!!!" is stupid.

Oh yeah so I finished season 1 of Rebels a little while ago. Pretty good but I have been wondering how Kanan survived order 66, since it never really answers or addresses that
That's explained in Marvel's Kanan comics.
Oh okay I'll give those a look later then, thanks
No problem. I haven't read them, but I've heard they're pretty good. So far there have only been two issues released, so now is the time to start reading them if you want to.

The other option is to just wait for the trade paperback, but that won't be released for a while.

Vader #5 was... Odd. I'm not sure I like where this is going. What was introduced didn't feel very much like Star Wars to me. I'll post an in depth review in this thread later.

So her winning the fight was the result of SJW influence?
