Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood.
Fuck off with your legitimate wise sayings.

Yeah, I'd heard about that. Weird that aside from the talking figures there really haven't been any spoilers from any of the other toys.

... "Shitty"? It was a joke review. I was scouring every inch of the forum in search of reviews I was missing, so I wasn't really looking at things like subtext. I didn't read very much into any of the reviews I found—I just put 'em up there. I wasn't sure if you were being serious or not.
If it's a joke review, I'm gonna go ahead and take it off, then, all right?
Alright, I do ask that you read it though. When I saw you posted it I was quite surprised lol.

derp
wrong thread
No, leave it up. Personally I thought my review was highly perceptive and quite in depth. I took upon myself the task of reviewing Dishonored with the utmost professionalism and I'd like it if people read my review. EDIT: Welp Verb posted in the wrong thread and so did I.

Lando Calrissian the blackest man in the galaxy
I think you'll find that Vader is, in actuality, the "blackest brother."

Toys are srs bsns
It might seem stupid from an outside perspective, but it's a hobby.
And a lot of them aren't even toys you can play with - they are more like ornaments for you to look at and appreciate.
Except when the model looks like a shitty toy in the case of Revell.
The Revell has nice colors I guess, but it's so... bland. I could maybe see it being justified if you're supposed to paint it, but their own website insists that it's unnecessary to do so. It really does look like a kid's toy.
Off-topic: omg I just noticed that's BB-8 in the astromech port... thing. :3
The problem isn't really the paintjob. You have to paint the Bandai model so it looks as good as the one in the photo. The mold is the problem; the Bandai mold is flat out superior. Much more detail.
Well, I guess saying the Revell model has a paint job is a bit of an overstatement, because anybody can paint a few rectangles (and the rest of it just looks completely unpainted >.>). But now that you point it out... yeah, the model isn't half as good, either. The laser canons look like they're not even positioned the right way, as if they're sideways, if the trailers are any indication.
I think Revell... Revels in denying us high quality models.

Why would you not buy bandai to begin with? They're the lego of models. Even if they are shit with p-bandai releases.
Most modellers already do buy Bandai to begin with. The issue is that starting now, we won't be able to buy their Star Wars kits, which, as you can see, are far superior to Revell's, who have a monopoly on Star Wars model kits in Europe and America now.

I learned a bit about how 3D printing has actually improved the quality of collectables like these. Back in the day there was most likely not a readily available compatible computer 3D graphic design that the toy companies could utilize in creating the toys, so instead they would make their own, and this is why the older collectables sometimes look like trash. A lot of movies now use 3D printing to create components of their sets like in starwars and most of their ships, and toy companies can buy the rights to these computer graphic designs for their toys. This becoming epic toys and not trash.
Yeah, Lucasfilm actually gave Anovos the 3D model used to create the Stormtrooper armor in the new movie, and now they're going to sell replica First Order Trooper helmets.

Jesus Christ, Revell looks like a McDonald's toy in comparison.
Yeah, and Bandai makes model figures too, like the sandtrooper in the beginning of the video. Bandai's model figures are 1/12 scale, just like Hasbro's Black Series. The difference is, The Black Series looks like crap in comparison:
Left is Bandai, right is Hasbro.
Wow. The asymmetry and mediocre paintjob makes Hasbro's rendition look like a mass-produced childrens toy, while Bandai's looks like a miniature replica of the Stormtrooper armour.
Yeah, and you know the real kicker? Relatively the same price. $20.

The Bandai's "mouth grill" doesn't look good because the guy who took the photo used the stickers rather than the waterslide decals or paint. If he had used the latter methods, it would've looked even better.

"hello everyone this is going to be a short video"
>five minutes complaining about a toy
Well I'm not subscribed to him but he basically makes 30+ minute long modeling reviews and tutorials. So it's comparatively short.

This should be renamed to minithread because it's not even in the double digits and half the posts are OP's.
Lol yeah. Comet told me to make it in the wake of the second TFA trailer when there were loads of SW threads but obviously things died down quite a bit since.

Dark Disciple is good
What is that?
One of the canon novels. It's in the list of canon media I posted.

Now's actually the perfect time to get into Star Wars, because the new canon isn't that old and it wouldn't be too difficult to get up to speed. Here's a list of what is canon, in chronological order:
Episode I: The Phantom Menace Episode II: Attack of the Clones The Clones Wars movie and TV series Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir (comic) Dark Disciple (novel) Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Kanan: The Last Padawan (comic) Tarkin (novel) Lords of the Sith (novel) A New Dawn (novel) Rebels TV series Rogue One (Anthology movie, showing how rebel spies stole the Death Star plans) Episode IV: A New Hope Heir to the Jedi (novel) - meh Star Wars (comic) - Good Darth Vader (comic) - Very good Princess Leia (comic) - Meh Lando (comic) - Excellent Battlefront: Twilight Company (novel) Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back Episode VI: Return of the Jedi Shattered Empire (comic) - first issue came out on Sept. 9, very good Aftermath (novel) Episode VII: The Force Awakens
In regards to good EU/Legends stuff (which isn't canon) I'd recommend: The Thrawn Trilogy KoTOR I & II

I heard the new Aftermath book wasn't that great, but that might have just been salty EU fans.
It's both. Salty EU fans actually spammed the Amazon page with bad reviews because they're angry the EU was retconned. Which isn't to imply that the book is all that great, because from what I've heard it's not. I read the preview excerpt a while back and the writing style is awful. "The entire book. Written in short statements. Third person. Present tense. Just like this."
My only interest in the book is from a canon standpoint; what happens post RoTJ. Thankfully, online plot synopses spare me from having to read it.
The author is quite snappy in his blog posts too. But he does have a point sometimes.
His post regarding the gay characters was cringy as fuck.
