The 501st is still canon. Anything AFTER episode 6 is not canon because they want to give the writers actual freedom, which I completely understand.
The 501st as an organization is still canon. Them being composed of clones, however, is not. The EU wipe made EVERYTHING noncanon, not just post-RoTJ stuff. Certain elements of the old EU are being reintroduced, however. Just not that one.

They aren't. Actually, by the time of A New Hope none of them are. The Empire phased out clones in favor of recruits shortly after Revenge of The Sith.
They still used clones, but they began to adopt new templates and accept recruits after a failed uprising on Kamino. But the Fett clones eventually got largely phased out as they died in combat, leaving the 501st/ Vaders Fist as the only Fett legion for the longest time.
They still used clones to field and train a large number of soldiers in a short amount of time, but they came from a number of templates and were supplemented by recruits. They never phased them out entirely.

Extremely arcade-y and casual but that's not necessarily a bad thing IMO. In terms of gameplay nothing mind blowing, but it's fun. This is going to be a game to play after a stressful day of work, or a game where parents can play with their kids.
In regards to visual and audio design, this game is incredible. When you step in the reddish brown sand on Sullust, and then proceed to walk on the grey mud, your character will track the reddish sand onto the mud. Snow gets on your gun on Hoth. The sounds are just perfect (the implosion grenade sound is awesome), and the character and vehicles models look like the cane right out of the movies (because DICE actually visited the Lucasfilm Archives, took photos of all the old costumes and models, and then modelled the in-game assets based on them, so every little detail is present). The motion of the AT-ST is absolutely perfect. Probably the coolest thing I've experienced so far is running along side an AT-ST as we assaulted a position, the ground shaking with each step that it took.
My main complaints:
- No server browser
- The voices for Vader and Luke are absolute shit. They make me NOT want to play as them. "Nothing can stop my lightsaber" or something like it is an actual line Vader says. Really?
- Time to kill is too fast. Should be slightly increased
- There should be a Battlefield-esque timer for respawning in objective focused game modes. As it stands you can get back in the fight so quickly it makes it very difficult to repel assaults, and basically means that death has no consequences.
I will be getting this game. I enjoy it for what it is, a casual shooter that's fun to play after a stressful day where one can sit back and just enjoy Star Wars battles.
